Chapter 206
“Nothing.” Jaden said, not wanting to share anything with outsiders.
Miranda Sanders, the female doctor, looked a bit disappointed but didn’t push the issue. She left the room and ran into Hank,
“Hank, did something good happen with Mr. Watson lately?” she asked, trying to sound casual.
Hank raised an eyebrow. “Dr. Sanders, are you asking about Mr. Watson?”
Miranda’s face turned a bit pale as she quickly responded, “Oh, no, not really. I’m just concerned, that’s all.”
Hank gave her a knowing look. “It’s better if you don’t dig into his personal stuff. Trust me, it’s for the best.”
Miranda was young and highly skilled, known for her meticulous care and knowledge about diet and health, which is why Jaden kept her around.
Over the past three years, she’d done an excellent job, but she had a habit of getting too curious about Jaden’s personal life.
For example, whenever he came back injured, Miranda was always eager to know more, but Hank had to remind her to back off.
Hank looked out for her because she was a woman and didn’t want to undermine her in front of Jaden.
If Jaden found out, Miranda wouldn’t stand a chance of staying on.
Hank was aware of Miranda’s feelings; she wasn’t just content being Jaden’s family doctor–she wanted more, like being the CEO’s wife.
Hank initially hoped Miranda would make it happen so Jaden would have less to deal with Ella.
However, from the looks of it, Miranda seemed to be losing before she even had a chance.
“Dr. Sanders, just stick to your job and avoid getting involved in things you shouldn’t,” Hank said kindly before walking away.
Miranda’s face went pale. She bit her lip, feeling a mix of frustration and sadness.
Hank had been supportive of her feelings for Jaden in the past, both openly and subtly. She couldn’t understand why his attitude had changed so suddenly.
Early the next morning, Jaden woke up, excited and full of energy. He tried on several outfits and shoes, looking far from his usual sickly self.
With his head held high and a big smile on his face, he was clearly thrilled about the day ahead.
He walked with a bounce in his step, looking as fresh and enthusiastic as a teenager on a first date.
Miranda noticed Jaden’s excitement and felt a surge of panic. ‘Did someone else already win his attention?‘
Lost in her thoughts, she barely heard Jaden’s question. “What do you think I should get a woman?”
“Do you know what she likes?” Miranda asked.
Jaden thought for a moment before answering, “She loves things that are bright and exciting.”
“Then flowers might be a good choice,” Miranda suggested.
Jaden hesitated for a while before shaking his head. He had considered giving her flowers, but it didn’t seem right given his current situation.
“I want to give her something special. She’s mature and steady on the outside, but she’s still a kid at heart, likes to play and have fun,” he explained.
Miranda shrugged. “In that case, I’m not sure.”
“Never mind, I’ll figure it out myself,” Jaden said, waving off the conversation. He realized he might have asked the wrong person.
Hank would have been the better choice for advice, but he’d been sent to another province early in the morning.
Then, Jaden spent a long time browsing at the mall, picking out gifts before he headed to the restaurant, arriving early to wait patiently for Ella.
His heart was racing with excitement, feeling like his entire body was buzzing.
Ella showed up at the restaurant’s private room at 6:50 p.m., and Jaden was already there.
“Mr. Griffin, you’re early,” she said, surprised to see him.
“Not really. I just got here a bit ago. Ah, here,” Jaden replied with a smile, handing her a gift.

Ella unwrapped the gift to find a doll taller than herself. It felt super cozy and made her think about how Jaden must have stood out carrying such a huge stuffed toy.
It made her feel even more certain that Jaden really saw her as a daughter, especially with a fluffy doll like that.
“I really like it. Thank you, Mr. Griffin, Ella said warmly.
Jaden added, “I thought this might be a bit too childish, so I got you something else too.”
Ella opened the box and her eyes widened in surprise. ‘Is he giving me discontinued Kashmir rubies?”
She was amazed. ‘Mr. Griffin must have a huge business in Skylark. His wealth might even surpass Willow Group’s!”
Ella accepted the gift with genuine appreciation. She had also brought some local treats and men’s ties, which seemed perfect for his age.
“If I had known you’d give me such an extravagant gift, I would’ve brought more,” she said.
Jaden waved it off. “Don’t worry about it. These things don’t mean much to me. I figured you’d appreciate something shiny, given your fashion background. This gem might be nice for your designs.”
Ella found herself liking Viper even more as they realized how many of their thoughts lined up.
During their meal, Ella was chatty, excitedly talking about local quirks and strange legends.
Viper listened attentively, his gaze fixed on her as she spoke. To Ella, it felt like he was looking at her with a special kind of affection.
She thought maybe Viper missed his daughter a lot and was pouring all his fatherly feelings into their interactions.
Ella embraced this warmth and wanted to give back the same amount of affection to him.
They ate a lot, and Ella, who usually wasn’t a big eater, enjoyed the meal more than she had in three years.
Unbeknownst to her, Jaden felt the same way.
Feeling a bit full, they decided to stroll through a nearby park to help with digestion.
“Watch out!” a passerby suddenly yelled.
Ella turned to see a large, aggressive dog that had broken free from its leash charging toward the crowd.
People were already scattering in panic.
The dog’s eyes were bloodshot, its mouth hanging open with drool.
It charged straight at Ella, who stood frozen in place and unable to react.
Just as it lunged, Jaden yanked her by the waist, pulling her into his arms, narrowly avoiding the dog’s vicious attack.
The dog landed hard, frustrated that the two of them had missed.
Then, it scraped the ground, readying itself for another go.
“Mr. Griffin.” Ella’s voice trembled.
“Stay behind me!” Jaden said in firm and commanding tone.
In an instant, the dog sprang forward again, moving like a bullet. The sheer force and speed made it nearly impossible for anyone to avoid.
Jaden instinctively raised his arm, which the dog sank its teeth into, refusing to let go.
Its sharp fangs tore through his flesh.
“Mr. Griffin!” Ella cried out in panic.
Jaden didn’t flinch. His calm was almost unnerving. With a quick movement, he grabbed the dog’s neck with his free hand, steadily tightening his grip.
At first, the dog was relentless, determined to attack.
But as Jaden tightened his grip, it began to whimper in pain. The dog tried to break free, its jaws loosening their hold, but it was no match for Jaden’s strength.
Ella, standing close, could almost hear the crunch of bone under his hand.

The dog’s cries grew more desperate.
“Don’t kill it!” the owner yelled, panicked.
However, Jaden ignored the plea.
For him, a dog that bites deserves no mercy, especially one that targeted Ella.
With a final squeeze, the bones cracked, and the dog went limp, its neck twisted at an unnatural angle. It was over in an instant..
He tossed the lifeless body aside like it was nothing.
He turned to Ella. “Are you okay?”
Ella was in shock, unsure if it was fear or something else paralyzing her.
The intensity Jaden had just shown was overwhelming, as if he had become the Grim Reaper himself.
Their eyes met, and without thinking, Ella took a step back, instinctively distancing herself from him.
Jaden’s heart sank.
That look in her eyes–he knew it too well. Ella was afraid
him.
