Chapter 191
Ella uted overeating as an excuse to take a leisurely stroll in the yard.
Half an hour later, Jaden heard a cat meowing outside. “Are there stray cats around here?”
“Who knows! Spring is coming, so it’s normal for elderly cats to grow chattier. Oh, it’s so cold! Would you mind fetching my blue shawl from the third shelf in the closet? It’s my favorite Irritated by Jaden’s squandering of her time, Ella sought to make her escape by tasking him with looking for a non–existent shawl.
“Alright hold on. Watch your step,” he said, and then went off to look for the clothing.
She hurried to the back where a hole had been dug. “Jenny?” she called out.
“Coming!” Jenny called out, emerging from the tangled weeds to hand the food container to Ella. Tve made steak for you, and there’s asparagus my mom prepared. They’re fresh and clean, not like the stuff sold outside. But remember not to overeat, it’s not good for your gue
“Let me try it. I’m about to go crazy from the bland diet lately” Ella groaned.
“To be honest, Jaden is doing this for your own good. Look at the trouble you’ve gone through since you’ve been pregnant. By the way, I saw the child’s father, Jenny added.
“Hmm?” Ella had no idea who Jenny was referring to.
“Yeah, the muscular guy who sent you back to your room. I ran into him today while dining with clients. He’s now working as a model at a car show, and his physique is even better than before. Jenny replied.
Ella’s memory slowly pieced together the events of that night. Among the crowd of dashing young men, one stood out with his striking looks and impressive build. Despite her inebriated state, she recalled that he was the gentleman who had escorted her safely back to her room. He appeared a few years her junior, hailing from a modest background that necessitated his withdrawal from college to earn a living. However, his aspirations to break into the modeling scene had yet to bear fruit. Additionally, the company he worked for was rather unscrupulous, often dressing their employees as high–society figures and dispatching them to nebulous events, such as those held at the Viouna Club,
Ella immediately became anxious. “You didn’t say anything to him, right?” she asked.
“Absolutely not. There’s no way I’d reveal to him that the child is his. Can you imagine if he turned around and used the child as leverage against you? I’ve seen how these young men operate. Their game plan? Hook a wealthy woman to mooch off. It’s not just young women these days–guys are just as bad, looking for the easy way out instead of putting in the work, Jenny scoffed, disdainful of those who took the easy way out.
“How could you just let the guy off the hook like that? Do you think he took advantage of your drunken state? Thankfully, Jaden isn’t bothered by the pregnancy. Honestly, his generosity and patience are astounding. He’s the epitome of a true gentleman, and I have immense respect for him,” Jenny remarked.
Ella was gripped by panic over the massive misunderstanding. Jenny, please hear me out-
Yet, her words were cut short by the abrupt sound of a cough emanating from someone behind her.
“Oops, gotta go!” Jenny freaked out at Jaden’s appearance and immediately vanished through the hole.
“What are you doing?” inquired Jaden icily.
Horrified, Ella hastily crammed the food into her mouth. Fortunately. Jenny had brought only a small amount of food, allowing Ella to stuff it all away in her cheeks, resembling a squirrel hoarding food.
“Ella, spit them out!” He clutched the back of her collar and holsted her into the air with ease.
Nevertheless, she increased the pace of her chewing, swallowed with too much force, and inadvertently choked herself. Her face turned a shade of red as she began to cough relentlessly.
Anxious, Jaden asked for some water to be brought to Ella, who quickly gulped it down.
He gently tapped her back, soothing her, and felt a wave of relief as he noticed her condition improving.
“Are you out of your mind? How dare you do this right under my nose? You really don’t take me seriously Ella swiftly interrupted him with a kiss.
He froze, his anger dissipating in a mere moment.
A few moments later, she released him and licked her lips, savoring the aftertaste. “Is it good? Jenny made steak,”
He was speechless.
“Anything you wanna try next?” She teased.
Chapter 19]
“Ella!” he exclaimed. rubbing his temples in helpless frustration, uncertain whether to be angry while pacing his breath.
“Okay, okay. I’m really sorry, It’s just that my diet has been overly bland. I’ve been having cravings now that my health has recovered,” she apologized.
“Whatever you want, I’ll make it for you,” he said.
“You would?” She was surprised.
“Yeah” He nodded
Ella had a sudden thought. Jaden, be honest with me. Have you ever cooked for me before?”
During a time of intense pregnancy sickness, she struggled to retain any food, regardless of the cook’s efforts. However, there came a period when she could eat again; every meal seemed delicious, enhancing her appetite and easing her nausea. She speculated whether Jaden had been the one preparing her meals.
“Yeah. It was nothing” He shrugged awkwardly.
Ella felt loved. Despite her involvement with another man and convinced that the child wasn’t his, he still chose to accept her unconditionally
“I’m still feeling hungry. Would you mind cooking something for me? The meals from the nutritionist don’t appeal to me. I prefer your cooking Even a simple bowl of soup from you would taste wonderful!”
Jaden gazed at her with affection and pinched her nose. “Alright. One moment.
Ella leaned against the kitchen doorway, watching him as he put on an apron and started cooking. At that moment, a peculiar sense of warmth filled her heart. “Do you need any help? I can assist you.” She broke the silence.
Initially, Jaden wanted to decline, but he reconsidered. “Help me wash this, he requested.
“Sure. I’ll clean it thoroughly,” she said with a bright smile, diving into the task with eagerness.
Jaden didn’t cook anything complicated, just a simple tomato soup.
Despite not feeling particularly hungry, the rich, tangy aroma increased her appetite, and she eagerly devoured everything “I can’t eat another bite. I’m so stuffed that I can’t even move
He gazed at her dotingly. “Do you want me to cook from now on?”
“Why not! I promise I finish everything”
Her high praise was a source of motivation for Jaden. Yet, it is said that actions speak louder than words. Completing his dish is, in itself, the highest form of commendation. Jaden understood that his culinary efforts in the kitchen have their own value. If they bring happiness to his wife and child, then they are truly meaningful deeds.
“Alright, I will make some preparations for it”
Ella assumed that Jaden’s preparation involved merely looking up recipes or cooking from time to time, considering he was still a man with many
commitments.
To her astonishment, he presented her with a folder just a few days later.
“What is it?” Ella opened it with curiosity and couldn’t believe what she saw “Advanced Nutrition Certificate?”
