Chapter 132
The doctor said, “There was a scare, but the patient is out of danger. However, after she wakes up, there may be some aftereffects, such as drooling, paralysis, or loss of speech.”

Lisa said, “It’s alright, as long as she’s alive…”
Lisa and Ella held each other and cried.
Lisa said, “Ms. Willow, please let me stay with her. You should go get some rest. If I can’t hold on, I’ll let you know, and we can switch.”
“Alright.” Ella nodded in agreement. She desperately needed rest.
She didn’t stray far from the hospital, finding a nearby hotel and checking into a room.
She was so exhausted that she fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow.
In her half–asleep state, Ella felt as if someone was staring at her. It made her uneasy, and she wanted to wake up, but her eyelids felt too heavy.

This feeling followed her throughout her dream.
After a good sleep, Ella felt much better. She glanced at her phone and saw that Lisa hadn’t contacted her, but the Wale family had been trying to
reach her.
Ella decided to go home and take a look.
As soon as she arrived, she heard Martha’s sharp voice. “You finally came back! Look at my grandson’s injuries. You need to give us an explanation.”
Ella was stunned to see the disheveled Brandon.
Whoever beat him up did her a favor.
Ella asked, “What happened?”
Martha shouted, “Don’t play dumb! This is all because of you that he got beaten up. Look at his face, it’s ruined!”
“Who did it?” Ella asked.
Brandon asked, “I… I don’t know. Someone suddenly grabbed me, pulled me into a car, asked about our relationship, and then had me beaten up.”
“Was it this person?”
Ella found a photo of Jaden, instinctively feeling it was him.
“Yes, that’s the guy who beat me up!” Brandon was agitated.
Ella thought, Jaden is indeed petty. He can be engaged with Liana but doesn’t allow me to be with another man. But this time, he did well. Why didn’t he hit harder?‘
Ella said, “If he beat you up, what does that have to do with me?”
“What do you mean? Isn’t it because of you that Brandon got beaten up?” Martha’s face was twisted with anger.
“So, what do you want to do about it?”
“Compensation! We’re not asking for much. My grandson’s face is ruined, which will affect his chances of finding a wife. Just give us this house as compensation. With a house, it’ll be easier for him to get a wife.” Martha’s demand was outrageous.
Ella was stunned and thought, ‘A single–family villa in Ardbert City? Wow, why doesn’t she just rob a bank?‘
“In that case, there’s nothing more to say. Let the police handle this.” Ella directly dialed the police.
“What are you doing?” Brandon glared at her and said, “My grandma didn’t harm you, and you call the police? Don’t you have any respect for the elderly? That’s a traditional virtue!”
Ella sapped, “What gives you the right to judge me? Do we even have any connection? Are we close? You’ve been mooching off me, acting like leeches, and now you’ve got the nerve to act like you’re so important?”
Then she turned to Martha and said, “You’re sharp–tongued, short–sighted, and sexist! Old woman, you’re going to hell after you die!”
Then Ella scolded Brandon’s father, “And you! You have no ambition, get drunk on a few drinks, and forget where you are! You don’t have the guts to go out and make something of yourself, so you just stay home and beat women. It’s disgusting!

“If you had been with your mother, you might have turned out with better values and some self–reliance. But look at you now, so much worse than your sister? Want compensation? Not a single cent will come from me. Get out of my house, you trash!”
Ella shouted at Brandon’s lover. “And you, how can you be so stupid, having kids without marrying him? You have no legal protection in your marriage. You don’t care about yourself, but you’re ruining your daughter’s life. So what if she’s a girl? I’m the only girl in my family, and I’m rich and capable. I’ll have my husband marry into my family, and the kids will take my last name!”
Ella stood her ground and scolded everyone in the Wale farnily.
“You You….” Martha was furious, her withered hand pointing at Ella.
Martha said, “Brandon, teach her a lesson! This woman needs to be put in her place! Give her a good beating, and she’ll behave.”
“Alright, Grandma!” Brandon was also enraged. In their village, if a woman didn’t behave, a good beating would straighten her out.
That was how Martha was handled.
That was how his dad handled things, and it was what Brandon had learned to do.
Even though Ella wasn’t even part of his family yet, he still believed that as a man, he was superior to all women.
He raised his fist to hit Ella, but before he could reach Ella, two burly security guards blocked his way.
One guard spoke into his walkie–talkie, “Security!”
Soon, more security personnel arrived, all dressed in uniforms and looking intimidating.
Brandon immediately backed down
“Grandma…” He looked to Martha for help.
Ella continued her verbal onslaught. “Are you a man–child? You run to your grandma for everything. What will you do when she dies? Are you going to follow her to the grave?”
“You…. You bitch! I’ll tear your mouth apart. I don’t believe anyone would dare touch me!”
Martha was nearly seventy, with grey hair, a hunched back, and a thin figure with a face full of malice.
Even if her health was good, she couldn’t withstand being pushed or hit.
So, she was confident that no one would dare lay a hand on her.
Sure enough, when Martha approached, everyone else hesitated, backing away step by step.
But Ella didn’t back down this time.
Martha laughed triumphantly and said, “You wretch, watch me tear that mouth of yours apart.”
She reached out her hand.
But as soon as she touched Ella, before anything could happen, Ella let out a dramatic cry and pretended to fall to the ground.
Ella shouted, “Ouch, that hurts! You pushed me! You all saw it. She pushed me!*
Martha was dumbfounded and thought, ‘Shouldn’t I be the one pulling this trick?
At that moment, the police arrived.
Martha wasn’t stupid. She quickly sat on the ground and started wailing.
But her rural tricks didn’t work here. If they did, she wouldn’t have ended up in detention before.
The police didn’t care about her cries. After gathering evidence, they took the whole group away.
“I lost 40 thousand dollars in cash from my home, along with some valuable antiques and calligraphy. The total loss is over a million dollars. Sir, you must thoroughly investigate this. I took this family in because they had nowhere to go, and they stole from me. It’s outrageous!”
“Don’t worry, we’ll investigate, a policeman said.
Later, the police found that Eugene had used the money to buy alcohol.
Martha had bought quite a bit of gold at a jewelry store.

Brandon had used the money to buy lottery tickets and gamble.
They had squandered almost 100 thousand dollars, with not a single cent spent on Brandon’s wife or child. It was truly pitiful.
The valuable items were also found in Martha’s bag, wrapped layer upon layer, including Ella’s jewelry and small antiques, totaling well over a million dollars.
Such an amount was enough to keep the entire family behind bars for quite some time.
Ella was quickly released.
Whether they’d end up in prison would depend on whether she pursued legal action.
She wasn’t in a hurry, preferring to let them stew for a few days.
Ella had to let them experience a few days in Ardbert City with nothing to their name, feeling the stark contrast in lifestyles.
Then, she’d make them beg for mercy.
