Chapter 6
Next door, Luna downed three bottles of hard cider, her voice getting hoarse as she belted out, “Love You ‘Till Death.”
Freya glanced at the trending topics on her phone, growing increasingly uneasy. She tugged at Luna’s sleeve, asking, “When did I ever mention Kieran in this mess?”
“Oops! My bad! I wrote that! News needs to be explosive to catch eyes, you know.”
Freya’s expression darkened. “Have you ever thought of the consequences?”
Flushed from the cider, Luna grabbed the mic and declared, “Consequences? What’s the worst that can happen? Kieran will come at me with a knife, demanding I take down the post?”
Bang! Suddenly, the private room’s door was kicked open. The music screeched to a halt.
Freya’s heart skipped a beat as she saw Kieran standing at the doorway, his face stormy. She knew Kieran would come after them, bur
he didn’t expect him to show up so quickly.

“You posted that news?” Kieran’s voice was laced with frost.
Luna, frightened, hid behind Freya, who tried to stay calm as she said, “I did.”
“You?” Kieran scoffed. He stepped forward, grabbed Luna, and tossed her into Silas’s arms. “Everyone, out!”
At the sight of Kieran, Luna’s legs had given out. She had thought of struggling to protect Freya, but Silas had dragged her out of the room, saying, “Go, go, go, get out now!”
With the door shut, only Freya and Kieran remained in the room.
Kieran moved closer, and his voice was cold. “So, Freya, you broke off our engagement and went straight to a club the next day? I’ve underestimated you before.”

Freya’s stomach churned as memories of a past aggressor flashed in her mind, prompting her to step back. “Mr. Sutton, you’re the one who left me on our engagement day for Eloise. The Dawson family can’t match the Sutton family. Let’s end this nicely.”
Nicely? Kieran sneered. “So, your idea of ending things nicely is to trash me online?”
“It was an accident!”
“Freya, I’ll admit you’ve found a clever way to get my attention. But I should have made it clear before. Don’t play games with me!” Suddenly, Kieran pinned her against the wall. His gaze was fierce.
Freya glanced at her wrist, firmly held by Kieran, and remembered. It was the same day in her past life, right after the engagement party, when Audrey had Kieran take her home, only for him to leave her in the cold, saying, “We get engaged only because your family is useful to me, Freya. Don’t fool yourself into thinking I could ever like you.”
Remembering her past, Freya forcefully withdrew her hand and slapped Kieran across his face. The crisp sound, amplified by the nearby microphone, could be heard outside.
Silas and Luna pushed the door open in unison.
“Freya! Are you okay?”
“Kieran! That’s not cool, man! You can’t just hit people because you’re mad!”
Silas and Luna rushed in, only to find the speechless victim wasn’t Freya but Kieran.
Freya said coldly, “Kieran, can’t you understand? This wedding is not only for the Sutton family to call off. If I say it’s over, it’s over!”
“You!” Kieran was outraged but paused when he saw the undisguised disgust in Freya’s eyes.
For the first time, Freya had looked at him with such disdain.
