The barbecue event was entirely self–service, where the staff only provided the meat and necessary ingredients. Guests had to cut the meat and prepare the marinades themselves. If not done well, it could turn into a culinary disaster.
Chwen, who couldn’t cook at all, had been tasked with skewering meat.
Remembering the squishy feeling of the meat in his hands, he shivered involuntarily and hurriedly said. “Okay, okay, I was wrong. Why are you taking a joke so seriously now?”

Everyone thought Kenneth would do something to Jennifer, at least warn her, but he did nothing and let her stay by his side as if nothing had happened.

However, feeling guilty, Jennifer didn’t know how to face Kenneth, especially with Debra not around, so she remained silent.
Just then, Kenneth suddenly stood up and swiftly walked toward the other table.
An elderly lady was introducing a potential match to Angela, even urging her to add his contact information. Angela, unable to resist the enthusiasm, was about to agree and add the contact to her phone, planning to explain the situation to the person later.
Suddenly, a hand reached out from above her head and snatched the phone from her.
Surprised, Angela turned around to see it was Kenneth and couldn’t help but frown, “Give me back my phone.”
Kenneth looked at her indifferently and put the phone in his pocket. “It’s not safe with you. I’ll keep it for you.”
The other elderly ladies at the table, unaware of Kenneth and Angela’s marital status, looked bewilderedly at Beatrice and asked, “What’s going on here, Beatrice?”
Just as Beatrice was about to explain, Kenneth interjected calmly, “Ladies, I apologize for the confusion. Angela is already married, and I am her husband. What my grandma said about introducing someone to her was just to irritate me. Please don’t mind it.”
Kenneth’s revelation dropped like a bombshell, instantly drawing everyone’s attention to Beatrice.
“Beatrice, is this true?! How come you never told us?! You’ve kept it so well hidden!”
“I can’t believe it. We all thought Kenneth would be the last one among our grandchildren to get married, but he turns out to be the first!”
“Beatrice, that’s too much! You knew she was your grandson’s wife, yet you fooled us by saying she was your goddaughter! No, you must treat us to a meal, or this won’t be easily settled.”
Seeing that everyone’s focus shifted to Beatrice, Kenneth quickly pulled Angela away.
It wasn’t until they reached a quieter area in a small grove of trees that Kenneth finally let go of Angela’s hand.

Angela looked at him calmly. “Why should I have refused?”

Seeing the fury in Kenneth’s eyes, Angela reached out and asked, “Can I have my phone back now!”

Kenneth then held Angela’s hand, saying, “Stay with me for a bit, and I’ll give you your phone back.”
Angela frowned and forcefully withdrew her hand, saying coldly, “Keep the phone then!”
She inwardly grumbled, ‘I might as well buy y a new one than spend another moment alone with Kenneth.
Seeing that Angela was about to leave, Kenneth suddenly hugged her from behind, whispering. “Angela, I misunderstood you today. I’m sorry.”
Angela’s body stiffened, then she pushed Kenneth away and stepped back, glaring at him. “You don’t need to apologize to me. If you truly felt sorry. you wouldn’t have let Jennifer stay by your side without consequence after watching the surveillance footage.”
