Chapter 63
Dylan POV
I was already in bad shape, my mind was cloudy with constant reminder of what King Josh did. I don’t care how mouthy I am or even if I deserved some form of disciplining, he went far too hard.
“Do I have a choice? We both knew the answer, I had absolutely no choice at all, what the king wants he gets.
“I promise you… I won’t let him touch you.” How the beta can make a promise like that is beyond me, but he sounded sincere.
I closed my eyes tight and tried to force the fear away as I heard his grace speaking outside the room. I forced myself to focus on the rhythmic movement on my back where the doctor was now applying some form of healing ointment, when I heard the door click open and closed.
“Fucking hell…” The kings words rang through the room as his movements stopped dead and a chuckle met. my ears. The bastard was laughing at my state, he found my torture and humiliation amusing, his chuckle made my stomach sink and the overwhelming urge to vomit struck me. This man was horrible. “You know if you had just accepted my mark I…”
I didn’t want to hear him state again that if I’d just given my permission then he wouldn’t have taken such drastic measures.
*Did you come to see me, Just so you could goad me?” I did somewhat snap it as I turned my head away from looking at his face. The doctor was still working on my wounds and Lewis was stood just behind King Josh when I averted my gaze from them.

“I didn’t think you’d be this bad, I thought the doctor was just being dramatic.” My eyes rolled and my head turned to the alpha king once more. “I forget sometimes how weak you humans are.”
How weak we are? I’d like to see him swap places with me and see how he handles everything.
“Humans are a lot stronger than you think, your grace!” I wasn’t wrong, we’ve adapted to be able to accept the punishments dished out by the lycans.
There was once was a time where wolves had to train constantly, dodging threats left right and center in the form of hunters, rogue wolves and even challenges for the alpha position, but as time went on rogue wolves realized that humans were the weakest links and turned on us instead and the trained hunters were rounded. up and publicly executed as soon as the new world came into fruition. There’s probably a few still alive and hiding out as regular citizens, but most were eradicated. And as for alpha challenges, there are still some now and again, but without the correct training, unless you’re alpha born or lucky enough to be born of two wolves, then you have no chance of beating a fully fledged alpha.
“What do you want, King Josh?!” His amused smile fell drastically and his eyes turned hard at my tone. I was done with everything to do with this man, he’d shown me that I was right, lycans will never know true love, and the king was the best example of that.
“Fine, I’ll get to the point and be blunt with you, I know The timing isn’t great, my queen, but we are to make a trip out of country.” My eyes widened in shock. I couldn’t even lift my torso up without feeling pain how did he expect me to travel out of the country with him.
“WHAT?!” Why on earth did he think I’d be up for traveling to another country with him after everything he’s put me through. Not a chance in hell would I go with him willingly or quietly.
“Your grace, I strongly advise against any form of travel with her body like this. The king growled quietly at the doctors words and looked at my back once more. The queen needs lots of rest and care….
“It was only a lashing!” A bit more than just a lashing, a lashing I could cope with, what I’d received was complete torture. “There is urgent business in Australia that needs addressing personally.” Australia?!
“In case it escaped your notice, your grace, I’m currently bed bound!” I snapped then seriously regretted it as I saw King Josh launch himself at me. My eyes shut tight and I braced myself for even more pain but none
came.
