Chapter 52
Dylan POV
I hadn’t felt so at ease since long before coming to live here, and it really didn’t take long before I fell asleep. I hadn’t had any proper sleep in over a month, so the fact that I was comfortable enough, and felt safe enough. was an absolute miracle.
I woke up some time later and honestly, it was without a doubt one of the best sleeps I’ve had in a long time. I opened my eyes to find myself actually laid fully on the sofa, my head resting comfortably on the soft fabric arm. A large fluffy blanket was draped over my dress cladded form, and a drink of what looked to be cola in a glass with ice laid on the table in front of me. My mouth literally salivated at the sight before I remembered I was actually in the royal palace.
I shot my body up quickly and groaned, still feeling a little achy from the previous night with the king. “Hey, hey. You’re ok… Royal Beta Lewis was quick in noticing my now conscious form and very quick to ease my my panic, he does genuinely seem to calm me down whenever I’m panicked or upset which was extremely odd, honestly if I had to have a wolf mate, why couldn’t it have been at least a nice guy like Lewis. When the beta realized I was ok he smiled before sitting down on the sofa he was on when I originally fell asleep.
“I tried to make you more comfortable, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone fall asleep so fast.” He let out a small apologetic smile before looking to the coffee table in front of me. “It’s not much, but I imagine it’s been awhile since you’ve had a soda.” He wasn’t wrong, and honestly cola was my favourite, or at least I think it was I haven’t had any since the new world began.
Even though it was offered to me, I was apprehensive, humans weren’t allowed things like this, although it was only one glass it was a luxury that the king would never allow.
“He’s held up making preparations…” The beta spat the last word as if he was disgusted by the kings actions, it was fairly obvious that he could sense my caution at the drink in front of me. “No one will find out, Dylan. You have my word.” I didn’t know Lewis well enough to take him at his word. Even so I reached for the glass and brought it up to my lips, I figured no matter what I did I’d end up punished so what’s the harm in doing something that actually warranted what the king would do.
The coldness was like absolute bliss, as I slurped at the fizzy substance. A small moan escaped me as I relished in the satisfaction of the old but new flavor hitting my taste buds, causing a chuckle to leave Lewis.
“So, how are you feeling after having a bit of sleep?” Maybe I don’t have to be so hostile and on guard all the time, Lewis has been nice so far, I can’t see the harm in actually having a friend in here.
“Honestly, I physically feel a lot better…” I trailed off, I knew my mental state was extremely fragile, I was just waiting for the final blow, the one that will completely shatter me.
We sat in silence for a while, it was nice although being with my thoughts wasn’t doing much for my nerves. The king said that my scar would be burnt from my arm, how bad was it going to be, I just wish I knew what was in the kings mind. “Erm, Beta, do you know what the king is planning to do with me?”
His head shot up to look at my face like he wasn’t expecting my question, he smiled sadly before shaking his head no. “I genuinely don’t have a clue what he’s planning. Josh is extremely unpredictable,

especially when it comes to you.” Not entirely what I wanted to hear, I felt my nerves skyrocket when I realised even the kings closet council didn’t know what he had planned. “I do know that Whatever it is Dil, it won’t be pleasant.”
Huh? This time my head shot up to him, it wasn’t his warning that caused a small smile to form on my lips, it was the name he used to address me. I think my little smile startled the beta because he sat upright on the sofa and frowned.
