Chapter 51
Dylan POV
After a split second of just staring at him in shock I lowered my head in pure submission. Thank God it was him and not the actual king. We all know what happened the last time I punched him.
“I’m sorry, I…” Lewis was quick to cut me off, I was waiting for a slap, or a punch but non came to my surprise. Instead he just chuckled at me.
“As punches go, you actually do have quite a right hook.” He looked at my shocked expression and sighed. “I know what your going through, a punch to the face is nothing, besides it’s quite nice to know your still fighting.” Surprise didn’t come close to what I was feeling. He wasn’t going to punish me for my violence and that in itself was a complete shock to my fragile system. “Shall we proceed?” He gestured me out through the doors and I obliged, the heels I was made to wear clattering on the floor as I went, which hurt my feet more due to not swearing shoes at all for months.
“You know, the castle isn’t as old as you would expect. Once the new world came to be it was remodeled into a modern day palace. I think personally it is rather beautiful.” I did have to agree with him, although I wasn’t a fan of the sheer size of it. I nodded my head and sighed, which Lewis definitely picked up on.
“Your not really a fan of any extravagance are you?” He looked down slightly towards my face as we walked down a corridor, I didn’t want to meet his eyes and so I remained passive, keeping my gaze forwards.
“You know, not all wolves were accepting of the take over at first? That got my attention. My head shot to him and a small smile graced his lips when he realized he’d got my attention.
“What do you mean? From what I remember the mutts were more than willing to join in with the violence.” He frowned at my statement and stopped in his tracks when my own feet came to a halt.
“Yes well, the pack belonging to your district were rather fond of violence, the black moon pack, a rather vicious breed of lycan, they were more than willing to show dominance to the humans.” He wasn’t wrong, c districts pack that day were labeled as the most forceful, more humans were killed in our distract than any other including my dad. Not only that but more punishments were given too. That will always be in the history books.

“Some wolves however, actively spoke out against the king and his ideals. Humans were a part of this world. before the first lycan was even created. There is a pack in the west that’s believed to be a part of the growing rebellion.” Well I suppose not all lycans can be bad, and to an extent there are humans that agree fully with the takeover, and mated humans are all for lycan patriarchy.
“Why are you telling me this?” He turned so that I was looking at his front profile, he had a frown etched on his face as he met my confused eyes.
“I don’t want you to believe that all of us are the same.” I wasn’t sure if he was speaking about himself or not in all honesty. The question stayed on my lips as I shrugged and continued walking.
“I know not all Lycans are the same, neither are all humans.” He agreed instantly, jogging to catch up slightly as I’d walked away from him.
“I’m very quickly realising that.” His gaze was once again on me, and I had to mentally question why he was

being so nice.
We walked a while, I was shown the palace kitchens, a swimming pool which I’d love to use, i hadn’t been swimming since I was 12, a private gym which was only meant for wolves, even a large cinema room, I didn’t even know tv still existed. Humans weren’t allowed them, and most wolves just use hologram projectors.
Eventually me and Beta Lewis sat down in a large library, located on the third floor. Now, I hate reading so being surrounded by books was just boring for me, but I was exhausted and needed to get my heels off, and so the sofas in the library were the best bet.
Lewis had already made himself comfortable. His royal suit had been unbuttoned, and he had taken his shoes off as he sat on a sofa opposite me.
“Well, that’s basically the whole palace. There’s only really the gardens left.” My eyes widened at the thought of going back to the gardens. The kings first ever violation of me was there, over a month had past and still it played in my mind, no matter how many times I’m subjected to humiliation, nothing will beat that evening.
*Please, can we not go to the gardens?” His eyes met mine instantly and a small wince flashed across them. He understood instantly where I was coming from, not that I showed much remorse, what is done is done. It’s what the king will do next that plays on my mind like a loop.
“How are you holding up?” I just chuckled at him hollowly and leaned my head over the back of the sofa I was
ΟΠ.
“I’m just peachy.” I found that it was much easier to combat my emotions with sarcasm more than pure honesty. It was fairly obvious that I wasn’t ok, and my tone of voice definitely expressed that feeling, however telling people that I felt like crap wouldn’t help my situation.
It was silent for a few minutes, my head remained bent over the sofa and my tired heavy eyes were closed relishing in the peace I finally seemed to have. Despite being in the presence of the second strongest lycan in the world, I actually felt at ease. Lewis showed me absolutely nothing but kindness and compassion, I do believe I was starting to see that not all wolves are the same.
