I slept obediently until the morning.
The next morning was like every other morning-the same blue sky, the same white clouds, and even the chirping of birds outside the window seemed to be the same.
At the same time, it was different from the other mornings.
The reason was because of the good news that I received. It almost made me faint in my excitement.
At seven in the morning, I was about to leave for college with Colin after having breakfast, and Queenie and Andrew were washing dishes in the kitchen. That was when the professor called me. Recently, I would get a headache whenever I saw anyone or anything related to the professor. So, the early morning call not only gave me a headache but also had the potential to ruin my entire day. Professor King was really up to something.
Looking at his name on the screen, I wondered why he called Colin away in the middle of the night and then called me early in the morning.
What did he want? Was he trying to torture us both by making us stay up late and get up early?
Colin gave me a look to encourage me to pick up the call, but I shook my head to show my resistance and flipped the phone over onto the couch.
“Don’t be stubborn. You have to face it no matter what. There’s no use avoiding it now. Just listen to what he has to say. If it’s unreasonable, just discuss it further.”
My eyes almost popped out at his words.
What did he just say? Couldn’t I just reject it if it was unreasonable? Why did I have to discuss it further?
Colin massaged the back of my neck to comfort me. “He’s our mentor. We have to respect him.”
I was speechless. He did have a point, so I could only answer the call.
“Good morning, Professor King.”

“Everything’s just fine. Hurry up and come to my office right now.”
I felt like banging my head against a wall.
It was exactly just as I thought. He just wanted to torture me.
“Professor, your devoted student has just woken up. Is it urgent? Can’t you wait for me for a while?” I desperately tried to stall for time.
“No, I can’t wait. You have to come right now. Immediately. I’ll give you 20 minutes.” He hung up decisively right after that.
Tears of frustration welled up in my eyes as I dashed downstairs. I could hear Colin’s laughter behind me.
Why did I end up with such a mentor? Why was this happening?
17 minutes later, I arrived at the professor’s office.
He was sitting energetically at his desk when I opened the office door. How could he smile when he had just spent half of the previous night in a meeting?
“There you are. Come here, quickly. Luna, Mr. White, I have good news and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?”
Was he playing games now?
“Alright, let’s hear the good news first.”
“Luna, the good news is that the Dreamlight project you’re in charge of has officially revealed the model house, and it has received tremendous response from the public.
“Even though it has just been a day, many units have been sold. This not only boosted the sluggish property market but also provided an excellent example for future diversification in the industry.
“Luna, what did I tell you before? Effort would definitely bring reward. You’ve proven my words and also proven yourself with your talent and hard work. Congratulations
This was indeed great news.
