Chapter 573
“Who were you on the phone with? You’ve been talking for quite a while,” Nina asked.
Although she had been waiting patiently nearby, she could not help but notice Nash on the phone for so long. Her curiosity got the better of her.
Nash slipped his phone into his pocket, reached out to take her hand, and pulled her into his arms. “Conference call, some urgent business came up. Sorry to keep you waiting.”
Nina shook her head and smiled at him. “Urgent matters are important. I don’t mind. I was just worried seeing you frowning, thinking you were upset.”
Nina was a keen observer, especially when it came to her husband. She was always concerned if something was troubling him.
“I’m not upset,” Nash said with a smile. “Today is a great day for us. How could I be unhappy? Today is the happiest day of my life!” He kissed her on the cheek.
Nina wrapped her arms around his neck. “There’s something that will make you even happier.”
Nash held her waist, pressing his forehead to hers. “What is it?”
Nina blushed, looking down shyly like a bashful bride. She was still very happy. Keeping their child had been the right choice.
“We’ve been married for so long, it’s time we had a child. Your aunt has been wanting a grandchild for ages. We…” “Captain!” James interrupted with his serious gaze fixed on Nash. “We found something in the suburbs…” sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ (ꜰind)ɴʘvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
He hesitated, not wanting to alarm Nina with the details.
Nash understood from James’s expression that it was something urgent. “I’ll be right there.”
He released Nina and said, “I’ll be back soon.” Ads by PubFuture
Nina nodded. “Alright, I’ll tell you the news when you return.”
Nash affectionately ruffled Nina’s hair before walking off with James.
Watching his retreating figure, Nina understood the weight of his responsibilities but could not help worrying about him.
She feared for Nash’s safety. Ever since James had started working with him, she felt that Nash was not as relaxed as before. He was now not only the CEO of York Corporation but also their most admired leader.
Nina was escorted to a military vehicle to head home. Just as she was about to get in, she saw Eve getting out of another military vehicle.
Excited, Eve waved at her. “Nina!”
Nina’s face lit up with a smile. “Eve!”
Eve quickly got into Nina’s vehicle and threw herself into her arms. “Nina, I’ve missed you so much! You didn’t even miss me. How long has it been since I last saw you?”
Nina hugged her back. Eve was still a young girl, full of innocence and energy, traits Nina admired but felt she lacked.
She had always been calm and composed, never as lively. She secretly wished she could be more like Eve, which made her more indulgent towards her.
“Work has kept me busy, so I haven’t had much time to visit Grandpa Henry. What brings you here?” Nina asked curiously.
Eve clung to her arm and snuggled closer. “I pestered James to bring me. He said you and Nash were here, so I had to come see you. Finally, I get to see you!”
She snuggled closer. “What’s going on? You feel thinner.”
“Do I? I thought I had gained weight,” Nina replied, recalling how she had been told she was gaining a few days ago. Being pregnant, she thought it was impossible for her to lose weight.
Eve touched her face and pinched her waist. “You really have lost weight. Have you not been eating properly?”
“I’ve been eating well,” Nina assured her.
Thinking about all the stressful events recently, Nina replied, “Maybe it’s just the exhaustion.”
