Chapter 69
Ronald put away his carefree attitude and propped his right foot on the chair. He looked at Naomi seriously and said, “Come on, tell me! What really happened?”
With Ronald’s sudden display of seriousness and masculinity, Naomi revealed, “He went to the cemetery
today.”
Ronald’s face immediately darkened. “It’s been several years. Is he really that devoted? If he is, why can’t
he treat you better?”
Naomi chuckled softly and said, “Alright, you’re taking this too seriously.”
The more Naomi laughed, the more displeased Ronald’s expression became. It was clear that Brendan had given her a hard time after returning from the cemetery.
If he still had someone in his heart, Brendan should have thought twice before agreeing to this marriage.

How could he marry someone and then leave them aside? That was just nonsense.
With a cold expression, Ronald said, “Naomi, stand up for yourself. How can you be so certain about the fortune–teller’s words without giving them a chance? Do you truly have to stay with Brendan for the rest of your life?”
Ronald showed a rare serious and stern demeanor as he attempted to reason with Naomi. She simply tried to placate him by saying, “Alright, I’ll leave him.”
Once Naomi agreed to leave Brendan, Ronald’s complexion improved.
They chatted and ate for a while longer. Then, Naomi wiped her hands on a tissue before standing up
from the sofa.
“I’m going back. You should rest early.
Ronald also stood up and asked, “Why are you going back? Is someone waiting for you? Or are your planning to spend the night with someone?”
Naomi was speechless.
She turned around and kicked his leg. “Do you want to sleep here or not?”
Ronald patted his leg and said, “Hurry up and take a shower. You should get some rest too.”
Ronald’s reminder made Naomi realize that there was no point in going back, so she simply stretched and
headed to the bedroom.
With his hands in his pockets, Ronald’s expression improved when he saw that Naomi had given up on the idea of going back.
Meanwhile, Brendan had already left Chloe’s residential area. He parked his car on the side of the road.

“Brendan, I understand. Even if you don’t say anything. I won’t call the police.”
“Brendan, Chloe saved us. She’s an innocent victim in this accident. She’ll be in my place if I can’t survive this ordeal. Please take care of her.”
With his left hand resting outside the car window, Brendan lit a cigarette and took a puff of it.
Memories came rushing back, and his expression grew increasingly somber.
After finishing the cigarette, Brendan finally started the car and headed toward Yellowind Bay.
When he arrived home, Jennifer happened to be coming in from the backyard. She greeted him in surprise, “Mr. Ludwig, you’re back!”
Brendan gave a noncommittal hum in reply and headed upstairs. But Jennifer suddenly called out to him.
Mr. Ludwig.”
Brendan stopped in his tracks and turned around. Jennifer hesitated before telling him, “Mrs. Ludwig has just left.”
After saying that, Jennifer tried to cover up for Naomi. She said, “Mrs. Ludwig seemed very anxious when
she went out just now. It must be an urgent matter.”
Brendan’s expression changed drastically. He took out his phone from his pocket and dialed Naomi’s
number.
It was a recurring pattern. He would leave home, and she would follow shortly afterward. This wasn’t the first time this had happened.
Watching Brendan head upstairs, Jennifer sighed deeply.
Meanwhile, Naomi stretched lazily and headed to the bedroom.
Not long after, her phone on the sofa began to ring.
With his left hand in his pocket and a beer in his right hand, Ronald–walked over to the phone. Seeing that
the call was from Brendan, his expression darkened.
He threw the half–empty can of beer into the trash can before bending down to pick up Naomi’s phone.
The phone was still ringing.
Ronald’s expression turned cold. He didn’t hesitate to hang up the call.
Wasn’t Sophia still in Brendan’s heart? And he had Chloe too. They should be more than enough.
After rejecting the call, Ronald also turned off Naomi’s phone.
On the other end, Brendan’s expression grew darker when he saw that the call had been rejected.
Entering the bedroom, he loosened the collar of his shirt and dialed Naomi’s number again. However, he only heard the server’s automatic message from the other end.
“Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently switched off. Please try again later.”
Chapter 69
Naomi had turned off her phone.
This made Brendan’s expression even more gloomy. He threw his phone at the wall.
This frustration gnawed at him, and he couldn’t shake it off all night. He could barely sleep that night.
The next morning, he changed into a suit and left the house with a dark expression.

In another room, Naomi also woke up.
She stretched and walked out of the bedroom. She found Ronald tinkering around in the kitchen.
When he saw her, he was in the middle of eating something. So, his words were muffled as he said, “Tidy
up and have some food. I’ve ordered takeout for you.”
Naomi yawned and replied, “You can brag about cooking when you actually do it yourself.”
With food in his mouth, Ronald mumbled, “I would cook, but you wouldn’t dare to eat it!”
Naomi asked, “Since you have nothing to do, can you help me take my clothes to the dry cleaners later?”
Ronald answered, “I’ll make sure to get it done for you.”
Ronald avoided mentioning anything about Brendan’s phone call the previous night. He didn’t bring up the fact that he had turned off her phone either.
So, in the evening, when Naomi was getting off work, she was surprised to see Brendan’s car parked
outside her law firm.
Noticing that Brendan was sitting in the car and watching her closely, she calmly approached him and
asked, “Are you here for a case?”
Brendan looked up and said coldly, “Naomi, are you looking forward to filing your own divorce case now?”
Naomi chuckled and said, “I’m ready for anything, whether it’s giving birth to your child or dividing your
property!”
Her indifference made Brendan scowl in disdain. “Get in the car.”
Naomi leaned against his car window, raised an eyebrow, and teased, “I only meet men in bed. Have you thought it through?”
