Chapter 145
Brendan threw the pills that Jennifer handed to him onto the table. “What are these?”
Naomi eyed the pills thrown onto the table. “If you don’t recognize them, I don’t recognize them either!”
If he had something to say, he should’ve voiced it out. If he had any opinions, he should’ve made them known. She was too lazy to beat around the bush with him.
While Naomi acted dumb, Brendan smirked sarcastically.
He didn’t shout at her. He merely stared at her calmly, asking, “Did you also throw away the breakfast I brought you?”
Naomi raised her head. It seemed he did not leave immediately after dropping her off and had borne witness to all that.
Since Brendan had decided to stop dancing around, Naomi also quit playing dumb. She sighed lightly and walked to the dressing table to clip her hair up.
“Brendan, I’ve done well for myself all these years. I do not require your sudden attention toward me. Neither do I require you to treat me so well.”
If Brendan wanted to have a life with her, what had he been doing all this while? In addition, he hadn’t settled his past relationships, as well as his feelings for Chloe. He would go running to her the second she
called.
She had said that she wouldn’t give a damn about how much he messed around outside as long as they had a baby.
However, he wasn’t even willing to satisfy such a minor wish of hers. He said she wasn’t good enough.
Now, she wasn’t going to continue playing along.
Feelings were fluid. She was no longer the Naomi she was two years ago forever, and definitely wouldn’t
remain the Naomi who used to like him for the rest of her life.
A lifetime was too long. No one could say for sure what would happen.
Seeing Naomi’s sudden seriousness, Brendan stuck both hands into his pockets. He stared at her for a while before saying, “I thought too much and misunderstood you during your last business trip.”
Naomi smiled. “Don’t! You don’t need to explain. In addition, don’t make conclusions too early. Maybe there’ll be something between Maximus and me in the future.”
During their dinner, she kept trying to keep the peace by preventing Maximus from knowing they had a good relationship. Yet, he tonelessly expressed all his disdain in the end.
Since that was the case, no explanation was needed.
Naomi thought that Brendan could ignore her in front of anyone. However, he could never do this in front of Maximus. After all, they were enemies.
Chapter 145
Brendan said coldly, “Naomi, would it kill you to not talk to me in that way?”
Naomi grinned. “I can tell you whatever you want to hear, Mr. Ludwig.”
Brendan felt that he couldn’t continue this conversation. If they continued speaking, he would be stuffed
full of anger.
He suddenly averted his eyes from Naomi and picked up his coat. He slammed the door as he left.
She did not require his concern, and he no longer wanted to continue wasting his energy.

The bedroom door rattled on its hinges. Naomi turned and glanced It hadn’t even been three days, and Brendan had already left.
In the next two days, Brendan didn’t return home. He had a great time with Mason, so much so that they appeared in multiple headlines.
In the morning, as Jason was fetching Brendan to the government headquarters for a meeting, he casually asked, “Mr. Ludwig, that Pandora necklace has arrived. When are you giving it to Ms. Goodwin?”
Brendan’s expression darkened. “Who said it was for her?”
Jason fell silent.
If it wasn’t for Naomi, who else could it be for? Although Brendan had many women outside, none of them were serious affairs.
Jason was full of opinions. Yet he lacked the guts to voice any of them.
When Friday afternoon rolled around, Naomi arrived at the resort with her colleagues. They bumped into Brendan the second they walked into the lobby. Jason and Chloe came with him.
Chloe wore a white dress with a gray coat layered upon it. A pink diamond necklace was draped across her neck, which made her look more elegant than usual.
“Mr. Ludwig, we ran into you the second we got here. What a coincidence.” Michael ran over to greet him as soon as he saw Brendan.
Upon seeing that, Naomi walked toward him with her two colleagues. However, she didn’t greet him. Instead, she stood lazily beside them.
“Naomi,” Chloe greeted her smilingly upon seeing her.
