Chapter 58 Not Asking

We have just finished breakfast when six Lycan males walk in and the female is with them as I had suspected, I don’t think she would stay at home if they asked her. Amarah and I already discussed their possible reason for this meeting and we came to the conclusion they want to settle down in our Pack.
I can feel that Joseph is getting restless and when I look at him I see that Griffin is at the surface, “It’s okay, Griffin. They are friends, they work for the Council and two of them grew up here as Mom already explained to you.” I say, but it doesn’t seem to put him at ease.
“Hello, Little Wolf. My name is Umayza. I know your Human is named Joseph, but what is your name?” She asks him and Griffin gives her his name without hesitation, “Well, Griffin it is nice to meet you. Did you enjoy watching your Mom’s match against Alpha Ajani?” She asks.
Griffin asks her how she knew he was there and he smiles when she tells him she was more interested in watching him than his Mom, “That was until she decided to choke the air out of his Wolf, that was so amazing to see.” She says and Griffin is nodding his head up and down.
She introduces Griffin to each of the males and he stares at Armand when she says that he is Captain of the Squad, “Wow, you are a Squad Captain.” He says and he asks Armand how long he has been. working for the Council, his jaw dropping when Armand tells him for nearly a hundred years.
“Fuck, that old.” Umayza exclaims and Griffin is giggling at her words. “Little Ghost, you better watch that mouth of yours.” He playfully growls at her, “Or what.. You are going to tell my Mates, you do remember I have the upper hand here as I can threaten them with Mama.” She shoots back and I see her Mates bury their faces in their hands.
Griffin is watching intently as the banter goes back and forth, he grabs Umayza’s hand to get her attention and he asks, “You know he is a Lycan, right, Doesn’t he scare you?” And to everyone’s surprise both of them start laughing.
It is one of his men that provides the answer, “I am the tallest and the strongest, but that little spitfire. has taken me by surprise twice already.” Griffin looks up at him and mutters “Fuck” before he looks the male in his eyes, he is about 6“5 and that makes him just as tall as I am..
Griffin looks at Umayza as if he doesn’t believe the male and she tells him how she managed to surprise him both times. “Why does he call you Little Ghost?” Griffin asks and I look at the males to see that it is something best kept from common knowledge.
“Well, I work for the Council and our King and I can get answers no one else can get. My Dad was an Assassin and he taught me everything I need to stay out of sight, to be able to enter or exit places without anyone noticing me. There is something else too, but I am no allowed to talk about it as it might put my life or that of others around me in danger.” She answers.
I can see that Griffin is giving control back to Joseph, Thank you for being honest with me and my Wolf, Little Ghost.” He says before he walks back to the table, “Come on, Aunt Eos. You told me you would show me the training grounds.” He says as he is pulling her arm.
“Eos, take Pappi with you. I need you to be back here at ten, Pappi can look after the boys.” I say and she nods her head as she gets out of her seat. Pappi follows them with Inti beside him and both boys

seem excited to go to the training grounds.
Amarah and I guide our guests to the Alpha office and our Betas and Gammas follow behind them. According to Amarah this was something the entire leadership needed to have a say in and after she explained to me why I had agreed with her, another thing on my list for my Father to answer.
Once everyone is seated I ask Conri why they wanted to talk to us, but it is Umayza that answers, “Before you can make a decision about our request you need to know an important piece of information. I am the Niece of former Luna Calliope of Night Shade Pack.” She says.
I had heard of her, but never had any dealings with her and I don’t understand why it is important to know who her family is. “Do you have the gift of perception?” Amarah asks and the entire room goes quiet, Amarah quickly explains what the gift is about.
“Yes, I have the gift. However, I never used it for my own personal gain as Calliope did and I don’t tend to use it for my own gain. Unless of course it happens by accident.” She says before she tells us what happened a few years ago.
I can see the wheels turning in Amarah’s head and I decide to give her some time to sort her thoughts out, “Umayza, that doesn’t bother any of us. So what is your request?” I ask and as we predicted they ask permission to settle down in our territory.
Umayza explains it won’t just be Captain Armand and his Squad, but also her family and her protection detail, “Ma and Asilda would like to start a daycare for Pups with the possibility for the Pups to spend the night if it is necessary.” She says and I actually think it would be a great addition to the Pup–center.
Ione asks her a few questions about the daycare and it seems they have been discussing it in detail. Ionel takes notes as Umayza and Orion are explaining the plans and I have this feeling the plans will be ready before they have moved into our territory.
Amarah has her attention back on the conversation as she asks if it is possible for them to make it a daycare for the High–ranking Pack–members, “I know this might sound a bit strange, but the reason I ask is that our Pups need a little more protection then other Pups and with the design you described I think that would be a great solution for all of us.
I don’t want them to think I am forcing their hand, if this is not what they want I will try to find another solution.” Amarah says and I actually agree with her. Orion‘ is the one that tells us not to worry about it, that Ma and Asilda will actually like this idea knowing there is a Pup–center in the territory.
Just as we are about to end the meeting Amarah asks Umayza if she can do us a favor and I am stunned at the request she places in front of her, but Umayza accepts it whole heartedly. There is a knock on the door just before it opens and Nestor walks in with Simon right behind him.
I watch as they leave the office and after the door closes I ask Amarah to explain her request to the others, she nods her head as she sits down on the couch. She tells us what had been running through her mind the more she had heard from us about my Father.
“I am not saying that he was plotting against Theseus but I need to be sure there is no threat from his side. Why did he hide so many things that could have made a strong Pack, but why didn’t he hide the terrible finances from Theseus?” She asks out loud.
Amarah had asked Ademus last night to sit in on our meeting with my Father and his leadership and he

something he was incapable of and that is why he never hid any of it.” Ademus responds.
“Okay, that would make sense.” I say. “But why would he want to weaken the Pack?” It is silent for a while as we all try to make sense out of it, but no matter what I do I can’t seem to make heads or tails out of it. A knock on the door pulls me from my thoughts and Ajax gets up to open the door.
Eos greets him as she walks in followed by my Father and his leadership and Atlas and his leadership, Amarah and I sit in front of her desk on a couch and the rest of the room has been filled with extra chairs, some of the furniture that belongs here has been moved to the side to accommodate all of us.
Everyone is facing us and I see a strange look on my Father’s face when he notices that Ademus is present as well. “Dad, you wanted to say something yesterday, why don’t you tell us what it is you wanted to say.” I look him in the eyes as I am talking to him.
“Son, I think that we should wait until we are home and it is just the two of us.” He replies and I shake my head at him, “Dad, I am home. I don’t keep secrets from my Mate and from this day on I will no longer keep things to myself that concern our Pack, our leadership will always know everything that goes on with the Pack.”
“Have you lost your
mind, Theseus? I taught you that you are the Alpha and that means that you call the shots and you alone. You don’t owe your Beta, Gamma or Delta an explanation for anything you do or want to do.” He yells at me, but I don’t respond as I feel Amarah’s hand on my knee.
“Damon, I would appreciate it if you could try to control your anger. Theseus is just informing you of the changes we will be making, whether you like it or not. We are not asking for your permission.” Amarah says and I see a smile on Atlas‘ face.
