Chapter 133: Mr. Cassius, We’re in This Together
Gemma heard the words and, surprisingly, didn’t react with shock.
Instead, she just smiled.
“Well, if I’ve saved someone as bad as you, I guess that doesn’t make me much better, huh? Cassius, we’re in this together.”
You’re a good person, and I’m a saint.
You’re a criminal, and I’m the judge of hell.
Neither of us can escape.
Cassius seemed pretty pleased with that answer.
“They’re the ones who sold venomous snakes to the Raven family.”
Gemma paused slightly.
Was he explaining things to her?
She listened carefully, her hands moving quicker as she worked.
“They’re the ones who deserve the punishment.” he continued.
Gemma blinked, surprised.
Was that it?
Nothing more?
She was standing behind him now, unable to see his face, but his voice… it almost sounded “wronged.”
But Cassius?
Feeling wronged?
That couldn’t be right.
She must’ve misheard.
“They raised poisonous snakes and found ways to sell them to the Raven family. You have no idea how many innocent people died because of that.”
“They should go straight to hell.”
“But, dying quickly… might be too kind for them. A good thrashing first–let’s make sure those lost souls can rest in peace.”
Gemma wasn’t one for grand speeches.
When dealing with “patients,” she always had patience and a soft spot.
Her tone had a gentle, coaxing edge, as if speaking to a child.
one could mistake her for being dismissive.
After a few more minutes, the check–up was done.
As she finished packing up, Shawn’s voice came from outside. “Cass Cass, where’d you go?”
“International call.”
Cassius stood up, and Gemma quickly handed him his jacket.
Shawn burst in.
In his view, he saw Cassius topless, with the jacket still in Gemma’s hand.
The mood in the room was… charged.
He had picked the worst possible time to walk in.
“Ugh…”
The laptop he was holding slipped from his grasp and clattered to the floor.
He almost choked on his own spit–barely dodging disaster.
The second he regained his senses, he grabbed the laptop and bolted for the door.
This was bad. Really bad.
He could practically feel Cassius plotting his slow and painful demise.
Cassius just… stared at him.
Gemma, however, seemed deep in thought.
“Looks like I’ll have to give Mr. Smith another check–up,” she said, sounding almost amused.
Before, there was no head injury, so why was his mind suddenly acting up?

Chapter 183. Mr. Cassius, We’re in This Together
Cassius tugged at his jacket.
Gemma snapped out of her thoughts.
She realized just how close she’d been to him a moment ago.
The heat from his borly had practically seeped into her skin.
She quickly stepped back, pulling away.
“Tll go check if the medicine’s done.”
And with that, she hurried off, escaping the situation.
Cassius watched her retreating figure, a slight smile tugging at his lips.
The next day,
Gemma went through her usual routine–work, then home,
Just as she was about to leave, Marcus stood in front of the hospital entrance.
She tried to walk around him.
But Marcus blocked her path.
“I need to talk to you.”
Gemma moved a few steps aside, away from the door to keep it clear for patients.
“Go ahead.”
“I can’t talk here. It’s about Ali–he’s sick.”
Gemma’s hand trembled.
“He’s been acting strange lately.”
“At first, he wouldn’t eat. He kept pushing his food onto the floor. The chef and nanny couldn’t do anything.”
“In just a few days, he’s lost so much weight.”
“Now, he won’t sleep. He just sits there wide–eyed in his bed. I’ve already gotten him some counseling, but it’s not working.”
“Today, I brought him out. I want you to see him.”
Gemma’s heart clenched painfully.
But this mother–son bond? Ali himself had severed it.
“Maybe you should talk to Mabel.”
“Back when he threw tantrums, only Ms. Johnson could calm him down.”
Ali used to adore Mabel.
No matter what was bothering him, if Mabel showed up, he’d be all smiles.
He even insisted she play with him, stay by his side at night.
In the days when her marriage was still intact, Gemma had to endure not only her husband’s constant flaunting of his affair but also Ali’s fondness for the other woman.
Her heart was already in tatters.
. So now, she couldn’t bring herself to face it again.
“If Ms. Johnson can’t help, then maybe Margaret can.”
“As for me? Ali’s the last person who wants to see me.”
She forced a smile.
“Mr. Wilson, please move out of the way.”
It had been a long time since their divorce.
For the first time, she felt a sense of peace.
But Marcus wasn’t having it. His face darkened.
“That’s your own son! He grew inside you for ten months! You don’t care at all?”
Gemma didn’t want to argue.
“Are you asking me for child support now?” she asked coolly.
“You can sue me if you want. I’ll be waiting for the summons.”
She turned to leave, but Marcus grabbed her wrist, yanking her back.
“You’re not going anywhere!”

Let got Gemma snapped, her voice freezing cold, Luckily, she’d bees practicing boxing,
if he didn’t let go…
She wouldn’t hesitate.
Marcus let go but still stood in her way.
His expression was full of frustration now,
Come on. You’re just mad about Mabel, right?”
“I’ve already contacted a hospital abroad. I’ll send her away. She won’t be in our way anymore.” “When you come back, I’ll make it up to you for all the years you’ve suffered.”
Gemma didn’t expect him to be so delusional, his brain apparently broken beyond repair.
“Didn’t I make myself clear? We’re divorced. What you

with Mabel is none of my business. You can marry her and have kids for all I care!”
Marcus clenched his fists, furious.
She didn’t care?
Why didn’t she care?
They’d promised to stay together forever.
How could she just toss it all aside, like nothing?
“Have you fallen for Brian?” he yelled.
“Or do you think being Mrs. Read is somehow more impressive than being Mrs. Wilson?”
“I’ll tell you the truth–Brian’s where he is because of his connections with business partners.” “If I wanted, I could strip him of everything.”
“So don’t come at me with your petty little competition with him. It doesn’t faze me.”
Marcus was so angry, his voice cracked.
“You think I didn’t show enough sincerity in asking you to come home? Fine, come with me, and I’ll show you just how much I care.”
