Chapter 64: Trick the Scumbag! Make Him Suffer Forever
The airport
Marcus stepped out of the terminal with his assistant, his gaze scanning the distant crowd.
In the past, every time he returned from a business trip, Gemma would wait for him here.
She would be standing right at the front, holding a bouquet of red roses.
Her presence was so striking that he couldn’t notice anyone else.
But now, as his eyes swept over the crowd, Gemma was nowhere to be found.
For a moment, he wondered if the message he’d seen on his phone earlier was just an illusion.
He pulled out his phone and checked it again, letting out a small sigh of relief.
She must be here.
Maybe she was still
upset about being stood up at the courthouse.
Where was she hiding?
He had a feeling.
If he could find her, deliberately hiding from him, perhaps they still had a chance to start over.
The assistant, noticing him standing still, asked, “Mr. Wilson, did you forget something?”
“No.
Marcus shook his head and handed his suitcase to the assistant. “You go ahead. I have something to take care of.”
Without asking further, the assistant left.
Marcus followed his memory, walking outside
Sure enough, at the entrance to a small park near the pick–up area, he spotted Gemma sitting on a bench, holding a bouquet of roses.
She wore a black dress that perfectly accentuated her figure.
Her face had a light touch of makeup, making her features even more delicate, almost like they had been enhanced by a beauty filter.
Marcus reached out and took the roses from her, speaking with the same familiar tone as always
“How long have you been waiting?”
The first time Gemma came to pick him up, she didn’t even know where to go and ended up getting lost.
That day, his flight had been delayed by an hour.
He’d considered heading straight home but remembered her message about meeting him and decided to check
He was so glad he had
Otherwise, that silly woman would’ve waited all night.
Yet, to avoid worrying him, she had insisted she’d only just arrived and sat down to rest because she was tired.
He hadn’t called her out on the lie.
Now, holding the slightly wilted roses in one hand, he wrapped his other arm around her.
Memories rushed back like a breeze, stirring every nerve in his mind.
His eyes softened, and his tone grew lighter. “Did you just get here again?”
“No.”
Gemma’s voice sounded aggrieved. “I’ve been here a long time.”
In truth, she had just sat down moments ago.
1312
Marcus’s face showed a flicker of guilt. “Sorry, my flight was delayed.”
“Then why didn’t you tell me sooner?
“Sorry, I thought you wouldn’t come.”
Gemma snapped, “You thought I wouldn’t come? Who were you expecting? Mahel?”
Her eyes reddened instantly, brimming with what seemed like unbearable grievance
In the past, she was always understanding, sweet, and gentle.
This was the first time he’d seen her throw a tantrum.
Suddenly, Marcus felt his heart soften to mush
He reached out to pull her into a hug
But Gemma stepped back. avoiding him.
“Let’s just go home.”
A smile finally crept onto Marcus’s lips
He’d known it–her talk about divorce wasn’t serious.
Now that he had given her an out, she was coming back willingly, not even daring to mention the word “divorce” again.
She was even volunteering to go home with him, acting more obedient than ever.
If she had been like this earlier, they wouldn’t have ended up in this mess
“Alright.”
He quickly called for a car.
Once inside, he reached for her hand.
But Gemma propped her chin on her hand and stared blankly out the window.
“Will you still leave me to go see Ms. Johnson in the future?”
Marcus withdrew his hand, leaning back against the seat, his tone tinged with displeasure.
“You’re my wife. That will never change. Mabel is my friend, and if something urgent comes up, of course, I have to check
on her.
You don’t need to be jealous. No one can take your place.”
In the past, these words would’ve made Gemma furious.
But now, she remained calm.
“I just feel insecure.”
Her voice trembled, and tears began to gather in the corners of her eyes.
She looked so fragile and pitiable.
It made every man in the world want to protect her and grant her everything she wanted.
Marcus felt a pang of softness in his chest. “Then tell me how can I make you feel secure?”
Gemma lowered her head, her voice catching in her throat.
“Everyone says if a man loves a woman, he’ll give her plenty of money. But since we’ve been together, you’ve never given me anything.”
Marcus didn’t seem fazed.
“You liked that diamond jewelry at the auction, didn’t you? I gave it to Mabel for her gala, but I’ll buy you something even
better next time.”
“I don’t want that.”
She bit her lip, looking pitiful yet determined, as if she were trying to win his attention without being too pushy.
“Take a look at this.”

She pulled a document from her bag.
“Everything I want is in here.”
Marcus skimmed the first page, his expression instantly turning serious.
“You want to be a medical representative for the company?”
Gemma sniffled. “You always told me to give up being a doctor. And honestly, I’ve thought about it. Since I became a doctor, we’ve grown distant.”
“I’ve already resigned from the hospital. From now on, I’ll work at Wilson’s Group. We can spend every day together.” Marcus held the document tightly. “You could just stay at home..”
“Marcus, do you look down on me like everyone else? If that’s the case, we might as well separate now so you can find someone more suitable.”
As she spoke, tears streamed down her face.
“I wanted to become stronger, to reach your level, to make your family accept
But I guess I was just deluding myself.”
me.
She took a deep breath, as if swallowing her emotions. “Sir, please stop here. I want to get out.”
Tears shimmered in her eyes as she turned to him.
“I should’ve known earlier. You’re not avoiding the divorce because you don’t want it–you’re just too busy to deal with it.”
Marcus reached out and grabbed her hand tightly
“You’re not leaving!
You want to work at the company? Fine, Lagree.”
He always acted aloof, but the thought of her leaving brought back memories of lonely, miserable nights without her.
He couldn’t bear it!
Without even reading further, he signed the papers.
“Happy now?”
His voice was cold, almost detached, as if trying not to let her see how much he cared.
Gemma took back the contract, her goal achieved.
She hadn’t expected things to go so smoothly.
God knew she was about to gag from playing the “sweet, fragile girl act
“Mm, now we can go to work together. I’ll make breakfast for our little family every morning
Only then did Marcus smile in satisfaction.
He did miss her cooking–it was unparalleled.
What he didn’t know was that as soon as he looked away. Gemma discreetly sent a message to Mabel
The next second, his phone started ringing!
