hapter 12: Real Son Shows Up, You Can Only Love Me
She sprinted toward the surgery office at full speed.
Kids fighting wasn’t a big deal, usually.
But Noah didn’t have a parent with him.
Meanwhile, the other kid was surrounded by bodyguards, drawing a curious crowd.

Gemma pushed through the crowd anxiously.
“Noah, don’t be afraid…”
Before she could finish, she spotted the other kid in the fight—Alijah.
At that moment, Alijah was pinned to the ground by Noah, his face showing scratches from the scuffle.
The rest of her words caught in her throat
Alijah, hearing the familiar voice, instantly turned to look her way. The moment their eyes met, his eyes turned red.
But quickly, he glared back at Noah.
“You thief! You stole my stuff! I’m going to beat you up!”
Noah held his shoulders down, keeping him immobile.
“Idiot. You can’t snatch it, you can’t win in a fight, all you do is scream. You’re worse than my Tommy
That Tommy was probably a dog.
Insulted to being compared to a dog. Alijah’s face turned bright red.
“You stole my stuff I’m going to beat you up!”
With that, he pushed against Noah’s shoulders, and the two started fighting again
Gemma rushed over and separated them. Only then did she notice they’d been fighting over a brooch.
Alijah took the chance to push Noah aside.
He assumed Gemma would take his side and looked smug
“Thief! My mom will-‘
“This isn’t yours. You shouldn’t have fought Noah for it,” Gemma said sternly, cutting him off.
Then, she handed the brooch back to Noah.
Noah’s eyes instantly lit up.
He grabbed her hand at once.
Seeing this, Alijah froze, disbelief written all over his face.
Gemma pulled Noah behind her and reminded Alijah.
“Don’t you remember? I gave you those before, and you threw them in the trash
She’s just a doctor, and her salary was modest. She couldn’t afford luxury or custom items, so she made things herself.
Alijah loved pandas, so she’d crafted panda–themed brooches and bracelets for him.
But…
He’d thrown them all in the trash in public.
Because he didn’t want to be mocked for using something cheap.
It would hurt lus status.
Seeing Gemma side with Noals, Alijah couldn’t believe it.
He yelled angrily, “You’re taking the side of this bastard?”
He just couldn’t understand.
Chapter 12. Real Son Shows Up, You Can Only Love Me
Why was the mom who had always been so gentle and loving toward him now standing up for someone else?
Noah immediately put his hands on his hips and puffed up indignantly.
“Bastard, who are you calling?”
Alijah shouted, “I am calling you!”
“Well, big bastard! Your voice sure is loud! Blah blah blah!” Noah taunted
Alijah’s pale face flushed crimson in an instant.
Gemma sighed
He was her biological son, after all.
She didn’t want others to see this mess or let things escalate further.
“If you like brooches so much, your dad can get some custom–made for you. As for mine-”
Before she could finish, Alijah, as if losing control, grabbed a framed poster off the wall and threw it over.
She froze in fear and immediately hugged Noah, turning to shield him.
Although she dodged just in time, the frame still hit her arm.
Pain shot through her body, and cold sweat beaded on her forehead.
Seeing her injured, Noah’s eyes turned red.
He wriggled out of her arms like an enraged little cub and charged at Alijah.
“Noah, wait! Don’t-”
Instinctively, she reached out to stop him but was a second too late.
Alijah hadn’t expected her to protect Noah like that. He glanced at the shattered photo frame on the ground, then at Gemma, whose face was slick with cold sweat.
He was stunned, frozen in place.
Meanwhile, Noah grabbed hold of him and landed several punches before he could react.
Gemma bit back the pain and reached out to separate the two.
Before her hand could get there, Noah was shoved back several steps. If she hadn’t caught him, he might’ve hit the wall.
That’s when she realized–Mabel, with her fractured arm, was the one who’d pushed Noah
Using her uninjured arm, Mabel pulled Alijah into a protective embrace, fussing over him to check if he was hurt
Then she turned to Gemma, her tone sharp with reproach.
“Are you insane? This is your son! And you’re taking a stranger’s side?”
Gemma’s expression darkened.
The guards had already cleared everyone else from the area.
That was the only reason Mabel dared to speak so freely.
Otherwise, it would’ve exposed her relationship with Marcus.
Just as Gemma was about to reply, Mabel spoke again.
“And Ali is just a child. He can’t control his strength in a fight. Are you seriously saying you as an adult couldn’t avoid that photo frame just now?”
“Are you trying to pin some ‘abusing his mother‘ label on him just because you’re getting divorced?”
“Do you even realize how many people are watching Ali? If this gets out, can you imagine how it’ll ruin his reputation?”
Alijah slowly came back to his senses.
The guilt and fear he’d felt moments ago morphed into anger and resentment.
Meeting his furious gaze, Gemma felt a chill run through her.
For a moment, she couldn’t even remember what Alijah had been like as a baby.

Back then, he was so attached to her, so affectionate.
Whenever he saw her get hurt, even though she’s just pricked by a needle, he’d cry uncontrollably, his little face full of distress.
Sometimes, he’d blurt out innocent words.
“I don’t want Mommy to get hurt. Don’t hurt Mommy. Hurt Ali Ali isn’t afraid of pain!”
When had her sweet, thoughtful boy changed so completely?
She couldn’t figure it out.
All she knew was that one day, Alijah started talking about someone named Maya. Maya, who was worldly and knowledgeable. Maya, who was an internationally renowned doctor. His eyes lit up whenever he mentioned her.
From that point on, he grew more distant
She’d tried reasoning with him. “Mommy’s amazing too! I worked my way out of a poor mountain village to-”
But he wouldn’t listen. “You’re not as amazing as Maya.”
He’d even been manipulated into believing she had schemed to take Marcus away.
He had cried and yelled at her, “It’s all your fault! If you hadn’t stolen Daddy, I’d be Maya’s son, and no one would laugh at
That was the first time she’d been left speechless in the face of her son’s accusations.
Just like now.
She took a deep breath. “Alijah Wilson.”
“What just happened was an emergency. Do you even realize what would’ve happened if I hadn’t stepped in to save him?”
Mr. Raven’s wrath wouldn’t just fall on her–it would crush the entire Wilson family.
But her explanation only made Alijah angrier.
“My dad’s so powerful. I’m not afraid of any consequences!”
“You just didn’t want to stand by met You chose that brat over me! You’re my mom! How could you? Why?”
Gemma almost laughed in disbelief.
“Looks like you’ve forgotten everything I taught you! Noah–he is my boy. He is not a brat! You owe him an apology!”
