Chapter 6: The Ex Calls, Demanding She Come Back
The once–sweet little boy from in complete chaos.
the plane had turned into a tiny tornado, leaving the room
Standing on the bed, Noah held the last porcelain figurine high in the air, ready to hurl it to the floor.
Below him, shards of broken ceramics glittered dangerously.
If he jumped, he’d surely hurt himself.
The man from before–his frosty demeanor now amplified–stood by the door, radiating a forbidding aura.
His sharp tone broke the tense silence. “How much longer until the psychologist gets here?”
“On the way, sir,” a trembling subordinate replied, “but… there’s been a delay due to stray bullets along the route.”
The atmosphere grew heavier, but Noah remained unfazed.
He pouted, tears streaming down his face, and defiantly threw the porcelain figure to the floor.
The shattering sound jarred everyone’s nerves.
The man’s jaw tightened. With an icy glare, he ordered the servants.
“Bring another batch of things for him to smash.”
Gemma had heard enough Furious, she shoved him aside.
“What is wrong with you?”
She stepped forward, ignoring his thunderous expression, and extended a calming hand toward the boy.
“Hey, don’t move, okay? You might get hurt. Let me come over and help you.”
Noah saw Gemma.
His teary eyes
“Gemma, hug!”

tup.
He cried, stretching out his little arms.
Gemma moved to step closer.
The man’s cold voice stopped her.
“No touching strangers.”
She rolled her eyes. “You’re impossible. Without hesitation, she stepped barefoot onto the broken shards and scooped the trembling child into her arms.
“See? Not listening to impossible grown–ups makes life easier.” She winked at Noah, her tone playful.
Noah giggled, snuggling into her embrace.
“Gemma is the best!”
The room froze.
Everyone stared at her, stunned. No one had ever dared to challenge Mp–Raven and lived to tell the tale.
Surely, she’d signed her own death warrant,
Cassius Raven’s icy glare could’ve frozen fire.

He didn’t speak, just stood there, radiating a deadly calm.
The tension could crash a man.
The guards around seemed to anticipate a bloody scene.
But
After what felt like forever….
The man sneered.
The tension disappeared.

Chapter 6:
Everyone released a sigh of relief.
Gemma ignored the tension, focused entirely on Noah. After making sure he was unharmed, she turned to leave, carrying the boy.
As a doctor, she couldn’t stand watching her patient being abused.
If he couldn’t take care of this little fellow, she would.
But a guard stepped in her path.
“Ms. Kelestine, you can’t leave.”
Il clicked
It all
She finally recognized who he was: Cassius Raven, the third son of an elite family, a ruthless financial magnate whose empire spanned the globe.
Untold wealth, yet heartless in action, earning the title of a cold–hearted demon.
They say this person’s business is all over the map, and no one’s brave enough to go head–to–head with him.
But Gemma wasn’t intimidated.
She was just a doctor, no threat to this man, and she didn’t have much
If he had wanted her dead, he would’ve acted long ago.
So, she simply spoke calmly.
“I wasn’t leaving.”
She was cradling Noah as she walked to a smaller sitting area.
She settled into the couch, patting the boy’s back.
power herself
Her calm presence radiated a soothing warmth, easing the tension in the air.
“You know who I am.”
Cassius’s deep voice broke the silence as he stepped closer, his imposing figure towering over her.
This was the first time Mr. Raven had ever stood while discussing business.
The people around him were staring like they’d seen a ghost, unable to believe their own eyes. Gemma met his gaze. “Yeah, so? Being powerful doesn’t give you the right to mistreat a child.”
She’s not used to meddle with other’s business.
She just couldn’t stand by while Noah was treated poorly.
She wanted to protect the child.
Whatever the cost was.
Even that meant there would be consequences.
She couldn’t just stand by and watch today. If she did, who would stand up for her when things went wrong in the future? Gemma’s blunt, fiery rebuke of Cassius was like willingly diving into the heart of a storm–recklessly pushing herself deeper into danger.
What awaited her might be an even more brutal fate.
The bodyguards exchanged helpless glances, silently mourning the woman’s fate.
Courageous, yes.
But next time, there wouldn’t be a second chance.
However-
In the next moment!
Cassius narrowed his eyes, his voice low and heavy, carrying an almost suffocating authority that made it impossible to
refuse.
“Let’s make a deal. I’ll guarantee your safety here, and you take care of Noah.”

Gemma froze, unable to respond right away.
Cassius didn’t seem in a rush; he just sat across from her, long legs crossed, waiting patiently for her answer.
The little angel in her arms tilted its head back, eyes twinkling like they were full of shattered stars.
The boy’s curly hair brushed against Gemma’s arm as if he was trying to show off how cute and endearing he was
But deep down, he regretted it.
If he had known Gemma would come, he would’ve made a better impression, not acted like the misbehaving little troublemaker who loved throwing things around.
It was all Uncle Cass’s fault for not giving him a heads–up.
Thinking this, he shot Cassius a sneaky glare.
“I have one condition.”
Gemma paused, thinking carefully for a moment before adding, “It’s not just here.
Even when we get back to the country, I need absolute security.”
Cassius wasn’t surprised by her terms.
He nodded, his expression unreadable. “Deal.”
Meanwhile, back home..
Marcus woke up on the couch, groggy and disoriented. His head throbbed from last night’s drinking.
Looking around, he noticed his son, Alijah, curled up on the floor clutching a pillow.
Being Deep in his sleep.
The room was a mess. Vomit stained the carpet, and the stench was unbearable.
Marcus’s face darkened.
“Where’s Gemma? Why didn’t clean the room!?”
His shout startled Alijah awake.
The boy sat up, his face confused for a moment before wincing in pain.
“Ow, it hurts! Dad, my arm hurts!”
Marcus clenched his jaw, his patience worn thin.
“Stop crying!
Can’t you just say what’s wrong without screaming?”
Sniffling. Alijah held up his arm, bruised and swollen.
“Daddy, hurt! My arm hurts!”
Marcus sighed, grabbing his phone. The first contact on his list was Gemma. Without hesitation, he dialed her number.
Working another night shift?
He muttered under his breath. “She should quit and just stay home.”
