Chapter 77
Megan stared at the screenshot with gritted teeth and angrily typed in the group chat: [There’s no way this is real! Sean’s so amazing–how could she possibly leave him and marry someone else?]
“Snow Snow Snow“: [She posted a marriage license and you’re still in denial?]
The chat quickly filled with laughing emojis, with everyone piling on the mockery. It was obvious to Megan and Sean that they were being ridiculed.
Sean’s expression turned dark as he abruptly stood up. “I’m making a call,” he said sharply.
He strode onto the balcony and dialed Alyssa’s number, fully prepared to confront her. But instead of her voice, all he heard was a robotic message. “The number you have dialed is currently switched off. Please try again later.”
Frustrated, he kept dialing, only to hear the same automated response each time. His grip tightened around his phone,– knuckles cracking audibly as his anger simmered.
Brenda, noticing his tense expression, walked over and asked, “Sean, what’s going on?”
Without hiding anything, Sean handed his phone to Brenda.

Brenda glanced at the screen and gasped, “Alyssa got married? Who did she marry?”
“I don’t know.” Sean’s face was stone cold. He had always assumed Alyssa would stay by his side forever. Now, she was suddenly married, and he didn’t even know who the guy was.
He thought, ‘Was Alyssa seeing someone else while we were still together? Did she betray me?‘
Megan carefully studied Alyssa’s social media post, then suddenly burst into laughter.
Grinning, she waved her phone in front of Brenda, who gave her a playful smack. “How can you be laughing at a time like this? Alyssa’s married, and she still holds shares in Sean’s company. Those shares haven’t even been transferred yet.”
Megan pursed her lips and said, “Mom, Sean, you two are way too gullible. You’ve both been totally played by Alyssa. Who knew she could get this crafty? Sean, she just wants you to call her and beg her to come back. You didn’t actually call her just now, did you? If you did, you walked right into her trap.”

Sean looked at Megan in confusion.
Megan explained, “Look at that hand–holding picture she posted. Have you ever seen a couple hold hands like that, with the guy just pinching one finger? And the picture’s so blurry. Those bands look way too perfect, like they were lifted from a TV drama or something, like a close–up shot of hands. Honestly, she’s kind of dumb. If she was going to fake it, she could’ve at least found a better stock photo.”
After listening to Megan’s breakdown, Sean took another look at the image in Alyssa’s post. She was right–the picture definitely seemed like a screenshot. He smirked. “So, Alyssa thinks she can play mind games with me now.”
“Sean, just ignore her. Let her stew. She’ll be the one panicking in the end,” Megan said confidently.
Brenda gave Megan a light slap on the arm. “Ignore her? Who’s going to cook and clean if you do that? I’ve been running myself ragged cooking and tidying up for you two these past few days, and I’m exhausted. If she doesn’t come back soon, who’s going to do all this? You expect me to take care of you for the rest of your life?”
Megan grimaced and said, “Mom, let’s be real–your cooking isn’t as good as hers. I actually miss her food. Fine, let’s bring her back, but she has to apologize first.”
Brenda turned to Sean. “It’s your call.”
11:56 Sun, Dec 15 OG.
Chapter 77
Sean pressed his lips into a thin line and said, “This has dragged on long enough. I’ll have her come back tomorrow.”
Brenda nodded in approval. “Good. The sooner, the better. Groceries are getting more expensive by the day, and my account is draining fast. Once she’s back, she can handle the shopping again.”
Sean gave a slight nod. “Alright.”
