Chapter 66
Another employee nodded. “Exactly. Miss Brooks doesn’t have the authority to do that. However, she’s very close with the head secretary in your department, so you still have to be careful. But don’t worry. We won’t make things difficult for you on purpose. We’ll finish the drawings as soon as possible.”
“Thanks,” Alyssa smiled.
The design department staff showed Alyssa to the break room and even made her a cup of coffee. “You can rest here. We’ll give you the drafts once they’re done.”
“Okay.” Alyssa nodded.”
The break room had some albums filled with old designs from the department, showcasing clothing previously released by Coleman Fashion. Alyssa browsed through the albums as she drank the coffee, taking the opportunity to study the design trends of Coleman Fashion.
Soon, it was time to get off work. Sarah had noticed Alyssa hadn’t returned yet and happily went to report to Cathy, “Cathy, I came up with a great idea to keep Alyssa in the design department. She hasn’t returned since. Knowing how the design team is, she’ll probably be stuck there for a few days.”
Cathy Иistened and smiled, nodding approvingly. “Good job.” Her eyes gleamed. “This is perfect. I can use this as an excuse to fire her.”
“Cathy, do you have a plan?” Sarah asked.

“Yes,” Cathy smiled smugly, “Alright, you can leave now. Don’t you have a date with your boyfriend?”
“Then I’ll be going. Bye, Cathy,” Sarah cheerfully said as she grabbed her bag and left.
Coleman Fashion didn’t promote employees working overtime, so most left work on time, except for Andrew and Simon.

Although Andrew didn’t believe in making his employees work overtime, he worked tirelessly. After all, there was nothing for him to do when he went home. He always felt the house was empty, especially since Myrna didn’t stay there at night. He often felt lonely and homesick when he stood on the balcony and looked out at the night lights of the city.
However, the thought of returning to his family only to be pressured into marriage by them made Andrew think it was better to stay away. Thus, he threw himself into his work.
When everyone else had left the company, Cathy stood outside Andrew’s office, looking in through the glass door. She saw him typing on his phone but had no idea if he was messaging someone or doing something else.
Sometimes, Cathy felt very close to Andrew. Yet at other times, she felt so distant from him. Even though she was with him daily, she never knew what he was up to, and what was on his phone. She wondered if his Whatsapp was filled with more female contacts than men, or if he was chatting with a woman or with his family.
Cathy wondered what Andrew’s family was like. She had never met them before. She stood there, staring at Andrew in a daze. Her curiosity about his phone grew almost unbearable.
Simon walked up behind Cathy and tapped her on the shoulder. “Ms. Carlson, aren’t you leaving?”
Cathy felt slightly embarrassed but managed a composed and professional smile. “What about you, Mr. Hunt? Are you getting off work?”
Simon sighed. “I’m not as lucky as you. I get stuck working overtime with Mr. Coleman every day.”
Chapter 66
Cathy felt jealous. She wished Andrew would ask her to work late with him. It would be wonderful for them to remain in the company. Many possibilities could happen.
