Chapter 65
Brenda ended the call and called a housekeeping service. Two staff were sent over. However, when the staff saw the maggots on the greasy plates on the dining table, they demanded additional payment. Brenda was stingy and refused, so the staff left without cleaning.
Brenda then called to complain about the cleaning staff, demanding the company send someone else. The housekeeping company had heard about the maggots in the house and bluntly told Brenda that she either had to pay extra or clean it herself.
Frustrated, Brenda blacklisted that company had no choice but to pay the extra fee.

Megan added, “Exactly! If Alyssa had cleaned, we wouldn’t have to spend a single cent. Now we have to spend over 600 dollars because of her. She’s a good–for–nothing.”
Brenda and Megan spent the entire afternoon cursing Alyssa for the 600 dollars.

Alyssa had no idea Brenda and Megan had spent the afternoon cursing her. After blocking their numbers, her whole world had become peaceful. However, Sarah assigned her a new task, asking her to go to the design department to rush design drafts from them.
Sarah told Alyssa that if she couldn’t get those design drafts, she couldn’t return to the secretarial office. She said Alyssa had to remain in the design department until she got them.
Having worked in design, Alyssa knew that inspiration was important for designing. One couldn’t design because one was told to. Sarah clearly wanted to make Alyssa unpopular with her request.

Alyssa wasn’t foolish. When she arrived at the design department, she said, “Hello, I’m the new secretary from the secretarial office. Ms. Brook asked me to rush your design drafts. She told me to collect them, that I can’t return without them. But it’s fine. I’ll just stay here for a few days. You guys can take your time.”
An employee in the design department frowned and complained, “There goes that Sarah bitch again. She’s always doing this. Does she think designing is easy? The more she rushes, the slower it’ll be.”
Another chimed in, “Exactly! The last time she asked me to submit a design draft, she even sat next to me and watched me work. With her staring, I was completely out of it. I told her to go back and wait, promising to deliver on time, but no, she had to sit right there.”
A third voice added, “Watching you is nothing! The last time I was sketching, she even tried to give me pointers, saying my lines weren’t straight enough. She said, ‘Aren’t lines drawn by artists supposed to be perfectly straight?” She didn’t even understand what I was drawing but insisted it needed to be straight. Since when is fashion design made out of straight lines? She knows nothing but she’s butting into my expertise.”
Everyone in the design department complained at once.
After venting about Sarah, they turned their sympathy toward Alyssa. “You’re such a poor thing. Can’t believe you have to deal with her.”
“If you go back to the secretarial office without the drafts, will she really fire you?” someone asked.
“I don’t know. I’m new here and don’t know much. I just do whatever I am told,” Alyssa replied, feigning ignorance.

The design departmenremployees sympathized with Alyssa even more. A senior employee remarked, “Don’t worry. She has only been here a little longer than you. You’re both Mr. Coleman’s secretaries. She has no right to fire you. There’s no need to be scared.
