Chapter 27
Adeline West
The next morning, I decided to stay home and take care of my lrs, I couldn’t bring myself to leave Tristan’s side, knowing that he needed me. Seeing my boy lying in bed, bandaged and in pain, broke my heart. His usually vibrant energy was suppressed, his laughter replaced by quiet whimpers, Bridget tried to be brave for her brother, but I could see the fear and confusion in her eyes.
All day, I was with Tristan, holding him close and whispering words of comfort. But inside, the anger was boiling. Whoever had done this to my son would pay. I called Sebastian, needing to know if he had any leads on the attack.
“Adeline,” Sebastian said over the phone, his voice steady. “I’m coming over. We need to talk.” He added.
Okay,” I replied, my voice tight with anticipation. “I’ll be waiting.” I added.
As I paced back and forth, my anxiety grew. What if they couldn’t find the person responsible? What if this person was still out there, waiting to strike again? I couldn’t allow that. I had to protect my children.
When Sebastian arrived, his expression was grim. We sat down and he wasted no time getting to the point.
“We have a lead,” he said, sliding a photograph across the table. This woman ordered the hit.”
I picked up the photo, my eyes narrowing as I recognized the face staring back at me. It was Laurel Parker. The same woman who had torn my life apart once before.
“Laurel Parker,” I said, my voice trembling with rage. “She tried to kill us. She tried to kill my family” 1 clenched my jaw.
“It appears so. We have evidence linking her to the driver of the car that attacked you.” Sebastian said, nodding his head, his cyes hard.
“How dare she?” I spat, my anger bubbling over. “She thinks she can just waltz back into our lives and cause more pain.” I said.
My anger flared. How fucking dare she? The rage inside me was like a boiling cauldron, threatening to spill over. “She will pay for this,” I said, my voice low and fierce.
“She’s dangerous, Adeline,” Sebastian added. “You need to stay away from her.”
I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms. “No,” I said, looking at him. “How can I stay away when she hurt my kids and almost tried killing us?” I shook my head. “I won’t let her get away with this. She’s tried to take away the most precious things in my life.” I said. Anger was blinding me. “She will regret this.”
“Mama, are you okay?” Bridget’s voice broke through my thoughts.
I forced a smile for her sake. “Yes, sweetheart. Everything’s going to be okay.” I said.
I grabbed my phone, fingers trembling with a mix of anger and resolve, and dialed my assistant Sophia. The rage was bubbling inside me, threatening to spill over, but I needed to stay composed.
“Sophia,” I said, my voice as steady as I could make it, “I need you to set up a meeting with Laurel Parker. As soon as possible.”
Sophia responded quickly. “Understood, Ms. Adeline. I’ll arrange it right away.” She said,
I hung up the phone, my heart pounding in my chest.

I sat in my room, the glow of my computer screen casting shadows across my face. I replayed the footage over and over. watching the scene of Adeline’s car accident. My lips curled into satisfied smile. I was happy seeing it
How dare she think she could be happy while my life and my plans crumbled because of her?
Killian had caught my lie, which I never thought he would, since I had him wrapped around my finger since the day I came back. I still remember that I deleted the CCTV footage from that night, but how he learned about it is still a mystery to me.
He pushed me away, and now I was here, left to cry over my failure. Meanwhile, she was out there, enjoying her life with her family and with that boyfriend of hers. No, I wouldn’t allow it. For four years, I had done everything in my power to keep Killian close to me. I lied about saving him, acted, manipulated, and lied about everything, just to hold onto him.
I placed a hand on my belly, stroking it gently. “We will get your father back, my dear, I promise,” I whispered to my unborn child. I had been so close to marrying Killian and becoming the Luna of the pack, the wife of the CEO of Volkov Enterprises, fulfilling my dreams. So close. And it was all because of her that my plans had failed.
I had thought about telling Killian about the pregnancy and using it to secure my place in his life. But he had found out the truth before I could use that card. He pushed me away, and it was all because of her. I was so close. Why did she have to come into our lives? Why?
Earlier, I saw his location from the tracker I secretly installed in his car and learned that Killian was in front of the hospital where Adeline and his kids were. I panicked, terrified that he would meet her and go back to her. Desperation clawed at me, and I called him, telling him there was an emergency.
A knock on the door jolted me out of my thoughts. I straightened my hair, glancing at the mirror. Perfect. I mouthed to myself before opening the door.
Killian stood there, an angry scowl etched across his handsome face. He stormed in, his presence filling the room with tension. “What’s the emergency, Laurel” he demanded, his voice laced with irritation.
“Please, sit down,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady.
He refused, his eyes cold. “I don’t have time for this. What do you want?” He s

I took a deep breath, my heart pounding. “I need to talk to you about something important.” I said.
“Spit it out,” he snapped.
“I can’t stay away from you, Killian.” I said, with tears rolling in my eyes.
He turned to leave. I quickly held his hand. “No, please don’t go I said, pleading with him.
He pulled his hand out and glared at me. “You called me, begging me to come to you, making it seem like it’s an emergency.” He spat. “Stop all these, Laurel,” he warned, using his alpha tone, his eyes gleaming with fire.
My legs began to shake in fear. He is scary when he’s angry, but I know how to handle him. I always did handle him.
“Stay away from me,” he said.
“I can’t.” I said, tears streaming down my eyes. “I’m pregnant
His eyes widened in shock, the anger was immediately replaced by disbelief. “What did you say?” He asked.
“I’m.” I swallowed. four weeks pregnant,” I repeated, my voice trembling slightly. “It’s your child, Killian.” I added.
