Chapter 18
Adeline West.
Later that evening, after the event had ended, I entered the hotel room we had booked for the next few days. The excitement of the night still filled the air, but as I closed the door behind me, a wave of exhaustion hit me, and I yawned continuously. I quickly freshened up and laid on the bed, feeling the soft sheets against my skin. The room was quiet, offering an opposite feeling to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.
Thank you, moon goddess, for helping me with the event. I could feel that today’s event was a success, and people liked our products. I know I shouldn’t assume, but 1 can feel it. But let’s just wait for the actual reports on the response and see how it went. Thinking about that, I picked up my phone and dialed Mary’s number. The familiar sound of her voice brought a smile to my face. “Hey, Mary. How are you and the kids?”
“We’re good, dear. Bridget and Tristan are just finishing their dinner. They miss you, Mary replied, her voice warm and comforting.
“I miss them too.” I said, longing to see them. “Can I talk to there” I asked.
“Of course. Here they are.” She said. I could hear her footsteps and a moment later, the excited voices of my children filled the line. “Mommy! When are you coming home? Bridget asked her voice full of eagerness.
“Mommy, we made a picture for you!” Tristan added, his voice filled with excitement.
“I can’t wait to see it. I’ll be home soon, my love. Be good for Grandma Mary, okay?” I said,
“Okay, Mommy! We love you!” they chorused.
“I love you
too. I’ll see you soon.” I ended the call, a sense of warmth and longing filling my heart.
I miss my kids.
As I laid back, Sebastian’s words from earlier kept running through my mind. He likes me and wants to spend the rest of his life with me and my kids. It should have been a simple decision but it wasn’t. What should I do? Should I give myself one more chance at love? I know I kept asking this question to myself, but what can I do? I’m so confused right now.
Doubts and confusion swirled in my head. I wished it could be easy–that I could just say yes to Sebastian and move on. Bub I couldn’t. The scars from my past were still fresh, and the pain of Killian’s rejection, betrayal, and abuse was still lingering. I was terrified of going through that again. My mind replayed the moments of my past–the heartbreak, the accusations, the feeling of being utterly alone. I don’t want to remember those painful memories, but I couldn’t stop my mind from flashing them in front of my eyes. Their hatred and their bullying, mainly Killian’s hatred for me, hurt me more than I wanted to admit. The way he banished me from the pack for something I didn’t do always tugged at my heart whenever I thought of the past.
He was my mate. The least I expected from him was to listen to me and let me tell my side of the story, but he didn’t allow me and instead rejected me, divorced me, threw money at me, and banished me. I still remember donating all his money to the pack hospital and only taking the money I worked for in his company.
I tossed and turned, the questions and memories relentless. Eventually, exhaustion evertook me, and I drifted into a restless sleep.
The next morning, I awoke with a renewed sense of determination. It was a new day, and I had work to do and a company to run. The launch had been a huge success; our event and Moonluxe were everywhere on the internet. I was eager to hear the feedback from my team. As I entered the conference room, I was greeted by smiles and nods of approval from my team.
“Good morning, everyone,” I said, taking my seat at the head of the table. “Let’s get started.” I said.

Sophia began the meeting “First off, congratulations to everyone. The launch was a huge success. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.” She said, a wide grin on her face.
I smiled, feeling a surge of pride. “Great jobs, everyone. This wouldn’t have been possible without your hard work and dedication” I said.
Maddison, who had been with me since the early days of Moonluxe, spoke up. “Adeline, the new products have been very well received. The social media buzz is off the charts, and we’ve already seen a huge increase in sales. She informed me.
“That’s fantastic news,” I replied. “What about the event itself? Any standout moments or feedback?” I asked, looking at them.
Another team member, Jason, chimed in. “The theme was a hit. People loved the interactive elements and the live demonstrations. We had a lot of influencers and media personalities praising the event.” He said.
Sophia nodded in agreement. “We’ve also had several inquiries about potential collaborations. There are a few big names. interested in meeting with you.” She informed me.
I leaned back in my chair, considering the possibilities. “Let’s schedule some meetings and explore these opportunities. It’s important to keep the momentum going.” I said,
The team spent the next hour discussing the details of the launch, sharing ideas, and planning our next steps. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and positivity, the opposite of the lingering doubts and fears I had been grappling with the night before.
As the meeting progressed, Sophia handed me a report. “Adeline, here’s the feedback summary from the event and the initial sales figures. We’re already secing a return on our investment.” She said,
I scanned the report, feeling a sense of accomplishment. This is excellent. Thank you, Sophia,” I said.
The discussion flowed easily, with everyone contributing their ideas and insights. It was moments like these that reminded me why I loved what I did. Despite the challenges and the uncertainties, the passion and dedication of my team made it all worthwhile.
As the meeting drew to a close, I stood up and addressed the team. Thank you all for your hard work. Let’s keep pushing forward and make sure our next launch is even more successful appreciate each and every one of you.”
The room erupted in applause, and I couldn’t help but feel a swell of pride. We were a team and a family, and together we could achieve anything.
After the meeting, I returned to my office. The cityscape of New York stretched out before me, a reminder of the vast opportunities that lay ahead. As I stood there, lost in thought, Sophia knocked on the door and entered.
“Adeline, there’s something else,” she said, a hint of excitement in her voice. “We’ve received an invitation to a prestigious company gala next week. It’s a great networking opportunity.” She added.
“That sounds promising.” I replied. “Let’s make sure we attend. It’s important to stay connected and visible in the industry.“T was informed.
Til handle the arrangements Sophia nodded and made a note.
Thank you, Sophia.” I said, smiling at her.
“It’s my pleasure,” she replied, returning the smile. “Also, Adeline, the first meeting with the company that wants to collaborate with us is in fifteen minutes.” She informed me, heroice was steady and professional.
“Great, Sophia. Let’s get started replied, feeling a sense of determination filling me.
The first three meetings went smoothly. We discussed potential partnerships, shared ideas, and explored new opportunities. Each company representative seemed eager to work with MoonLuxe, and I was pleased with the progress we were making.
