When they arrived at the mansion, it was already nighttime. The maid opened the car door and greeted them. “Mr. Xavier, Ms. Snyder, dinner is ready. We’ve been waiting for you.” Xavier coldly asked the maid, “What did I tell you last time?”
He remembered how he told all the maids to call Yvette Ms. Yvette before he lost his memories. When the maid heard that, she lowered her head and said, “Yes, I’m sorry, Mrs. Lane.” She’d remembered what he had said. However, Jeremiah was the head of the house at that moment. On top of that, she’d targeted and ridiculed Yvette for a long time.
Yvette hadn’t expected Xavier to stand up for her. She was so surprised by his actions that she changed her mind about him a little again.
After the two of them got out of the car, they headed for the dining room. Jeremiah and Zoey had been there for a long time. The latter was upset because of what had happened earlier that day. Soon, she saw Xavier walking in with Yvette, and she instantly locked her gaze on Yvette. She’d only simply investigated Yvette before, so she’d had no idea what the latter looked like.
Yvette looked slightly similar to Zoey. However, her eyes were more beautiful, and anyone who saw them wouldn’t be able to forget them that easily.
Zoey’s jealousy only faded away a little when she saw the hearing aids Yvette was wearing.
She stood up and greeted them. “Hi, Xavier and Yvette.”
Yvette nodded, thinking that Zoey was doing a great job at keeping up the act. When she’d arrived, she noticed Zoey as well.
The latter looked exactly the same as she’d appeared in videos. She exuded the same elegant air as Yara.
At that moment, Jeremiah approached them and greeted Xavier, “Hey, Xav.”
Xavier looked cold. “Hey.”
Then, Yvette helped him to his seat. The atmosphere in the dining room was awkward.
Shannon was still in the bedroom, where she called Luke and told him to come home soon. Luke basically never came back to Lane Mansion unless there was something important.
After the call ended, she finally went to the dining room as well. When she saw the four people, she pulled out a chair and took a seat. “Let’s dig in.”
Since Xavier couldn’t see anything, the maid helped him get the food on the table from time to time.
Shannon noticed it and felt upset.
“Yvette, I don’t want to nag you, but Xav is your husband. Since he’s blind, shouldn’t you help him finish his food first before you start eating?”
Before Yvette could talk back, Xavier chimed in, “Yvvy is my wife, not a maid.”
Shannon was stunned, and she couldn’t say anything in an instant. She couldn’t believe how much his personality had changed after he’d lost his memories.
Zoey silently watched as Xavier
protected Yvette, and she couldn’t
help feeling jealous. Then, she
looked at Jeremiah and served some food for him. “You should eat
more, Jerry.”
He looked at the food on his plate, and there was a cold glint in his eyes. However, he gently said, “Sure. You should eat more as well.”
As he spoke, he kept his eyes on Yvette. Then, he shot a glance at the maid standing by at the side. The maid hurriedly poured everyone a glass of wine.
As everyone enjoyed their meal, they had a lot on their minds. Yvette thought something was off.
Although her tolerance for alcohol wasn’t that great, there was no way she would get drunk from just a glass of wine. However, she felt dizzy at that moment.
She thought it was because she’d been in the car for too long. With that thought, she stopped thinking about it.
Xavier drank the same wine as well. Since he’d been in the business field for a long time, he was used to seeing a lot of dirty tricks. So, he silently poured the wine away. After they were done eating, Yvette stood up and was prepared to leave with Xavier.
Jeremiah caught up with them and said, “It’s snowing heavily outside. Let me take you guys back.”
