Chapter 77
Grace arrived at the agreed–upon spot. As she opened the door and saw Antonio, anger welled up inside her.
Antonio was quick to shut the door when she was about to leave.
Grace stepped back, creating some space. “Why did you have Daisy invite me here?” she asked, her voice calm.
Antonio, sensing her readiness for a confrontation, felt a bit on edge.
He leaned back, feet on the desk, still with that same old arrogance. “What’s the problem? We’ve known each other for ten years. Can’t we talk?”
“About what?” she asked, unimpressed.
Antonio played with his wine glass, acting casual. “Let’s talk about how you hooked up with Devin behind my back.”
His tone, expression, and attitude all left Grace feeling queasy.
She put down her bag, her voice resolute. “After I resigned, I’ve drawn a clear line with you, Mr. Kaufman. There’s nothing more to say.”
A clear line?
Antonio couldn’t help but sneer, “Do you think keeping quiet means I’m in the dark? A man like Devin, so by the book, hasn’t

to fall for it. You’ve got some tricks up your sleeve, charmed him into a wedding, and even fooled me. You’ve had your fun, right?”
His teasing tone made Grace’s face go cold.
She didn’t want to argue, so she played along, trying to figure out his game.
“So what if I have or haven’t had enough?”
Seeing her admit it, Antonio felt confident. There was a flicker of triumph in his eyes.
“If you’re done, come back. I won’t hold it against you this time.
“If you’re not done, my patience is running out. I don’t have time for your games. If you want something, just say it. As long as ⚫ it’s not crazy, like being a lover or something, I can handle it.”
It seemed that he was doing her a favor, which made Grace laugh.
“Thanks for the offer, Mr. Kaufman, but I’m not coming back. You’ll have to find someone else for whatever you need. Goodbye.”
Grace turned to open the door, not wasting any time.
Antonio was fuming. He couldn’t stay seated. He jumped up, shattered his glass, and shouted, “Grace, don’t be naive! Devin is just toying with you. A wedding? That’s just a joke. You can’t really think he’ll marry you, can you? When he’s done with you, don’t come begging me. I won’t be as patient as I am now!”

Grace turned, hesitated, and then told him the truth, Mr. Kaufman, Devin and I got married a month ago. I’ve told you this so many times. Why can’t you believe it? What happens in the future is none of your business.”
Hearing the word “married” hit Antonio hard. He stared at her in disbelief.
“Why did he agree to marry you?”
Hearing the desperation in his voice, Grace walked away, her words echoing in the room. “Not everyone is like you, Mr. Kaufman.”
The door shut with a bang.
Antonio stood there, stunned.
He figured their wedding was just for show, never dreaming they’d really tied the knot.
His confidence, built over time, crumbled in an instant, replaced by confusion.
His head was spinning with confusion and questions. He couldn’t just let her walk away and rushed to catch up.
Outside the door, no one was in sight.
His heart skipped a beat, and he quickly pressed the elevator button, rushing to catch up with her.
