Chapter 676
Skylar recovered her composure slowly while staring at the

picture. Her heart raced. She asked, “Aren’t you scared of being seen, Joe?”
Joe’s eyes glinted with a hint of a smile. He asked, “Are you scared, or am I?”
Skylar froze. When had their relationship evolved? They’d started acting like a couple who were madly in love with each other.
Joe made breakfast.
Ever since he’d prepared breakfast for the first time, he’d whip up breakfast whenever he woke up early. Per the adage, practice made perfect. With every meal he prepared, his skills improved. He would even make bolognese pasta from time to time.
That was precisely what he’d cooked that day. It would taste delicious with the addition of chopped bacon, which Skylar had prepared a few days ago. It would last them for at least a week.
Joe loved it. On some mornings, he could finish off two large. bowls of pasta with chopped bacon.
After chatting casually with Skylar, Joe asked suddenly, “Did you meet Molly a few days ago?”
Skylar was surprised. How had he found out?
She nodded. Skylar wasn’t interested in keeping things from Joe. She admitted, “Yeah. She asked me to meet with her in a café a while ago.”

Joe’s eyes darkened. He asked, “What did she tell you?”
“It was like something out of a soap opera. She gave me a check and told me to leave you,” Skylar answered with a smile.
However, Molly had remained far calmer and more generous than the characters in those dramas. Skylar might’ve wavered if Gloria hadn’t stood between her and Joe, and they were a regular couple.
Joe chuckled coldly and echoed incredulously, “A check?”
“Yeah.”
“How did you refuse her offer?”
Skylar grinned and asked, “How do you know I refused it?” Joe asked her straight out how she refused instead of how she responded.
Did he trust her that much?
Joe raised an eyebrow and answered, “I have faith in you.”
With those five words, Skylar regained a neutral expression and replied, “I told her I would leave if you asked me for a divorce.”
Their relationship had deviated from the terms defined in their
contract of covert marriage. If he filed for divorce, she would leave without question. If the woman he cherished returned, she would let him go if she chose her.
Joe stared intently at Skylar. When their eyes met, it was as though they could read each other’s minds.
Suddenly, Joe’s phone rang. He picked it up and put it on speaker.
“Joe, I’m sick. I took my temperature just now, and it was 102 degrees Fahrenheit. When I was discharged, the doctor told me not
to get sick. I’m terrified. I feel so weak. Am I going to die?” Jenny’s
oice rang out.
Joe glanced at Skylar. She looked down and took a swig of her
milk
Joe did not respond immediately. As a result, Jenny added, “I’m sorry, Joe. I’m here bothering you again. You’ve been extremely busy, and you just got married recently. You definitely don’t have time to worry about me. I’m sorry.”
“Wait at home,” Joe instructed calmly.
Jenny agreed cheerily.
Skylar wasn’t surprised. She only felt a little uncomfortable. She got up to put away the cutleries on the table.
As she took the cups and headed to the kitchen, Joe took it from her and said, “Leave it. I’ll deal with it.”
“Aren’t you going to check on Jenny?” Skylar asked in surprise.
