Chapter 135
That night, Chase walked alone on the street. He was dressed in ordinary clothes, and his hair had become short. There were several band–aids on his face.
No one tried to strike up a conversation. The feeling of being the center of attention in the past was completely gone.
Chase was nothing after leaving the Guerra family and was no longer the heir of Garvand Biotech Company.
Once his father, Kevin, cut off his source of income, what else could Chase do other than stomp his feet in anxiety?
Therefore, Ella was right that Chase could only challenge Kevin when he was unafraid of being cut off economically.
It was the first time Chase’s heart had felt so heavy.
He walked all night and finally returned home.
Kevin was reading the newspaper and eating breakfast at the dining table. He was over fifty years old and had a well–managed figure. He was still handsome.
Kevin was surprised to see Chase as he had thought Chase would stay outside for a few days before coming home.
“You’re back so soon. Are you going to apologize to me?” Kevin said provocatively.
“Yes, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have challenged you. Everything I have is from you. I don’t have the right. I’ll study and work hard with you in the future. I want to enter the company and start from the bottom.” Chase replied calmly. He no longer had his previous sloppy personality.
Kevin was stunned and even thought his son had lost his mind, pondering, ‘A rascal who has been playing around for over twenty years has turned over a new leaf, huh? Is he up to some new tricks?‘
“Alright, then go to work.” Kevin felt Chase was playing around and that he would reveal his true colors in a few days.
Unexpectedly, Chase dyed his favorite red hair back and humbly started as an assistant in the company.
Kevin opened the secondary card for Chase, but Chase didn’t use it. Instead, Chase borrowed 200 dollars from his colleague and lived a tight life.
Moreover, Chase no longer traveled in his car but on a shared bicycle.
His life was very different from before. Not many people at the bottom knew him.
Kevin was surprised by Chase’s change.
He checked and found out Chase changed after meeting with Ella. He also found out Ella had torn up the contract, which Chase had been beaten up and knelt for a day to get.
Kevin made an appointment to have coffee with Ella.
At the moment, the person sitting in front of Ella was a handsome middle–aged man with a loving smile.
“Hello, Mr. Guerra,” Ella said politely.
Kevin nodded. “Sit and try the coffee I made.”
Ella tasted it respectfully but was worried about the baby in her and did not drink too much. “The fragrance of the coffee is strong. Mr. Guerra, you are skilled in making coffee.”
Kevin eyed her. “Then make a cup and let me try it.”
“Me? I’m not very good at it.” Ella tried to refuse.
Kevin insisted. “It doesn’t matter. Just do it.”
Ella had no idea what Kevin was doing. She wasn’t good at making coffee and didn’t need to please someone, who had made things difficult for her.
She boiled water and poured it into his cup.
Ella took a sip herself. “Okay, let me be honest. I can’t tell if it’s good. I think the coffee I made is delicious, too.”
Kevin looked at her even more curiously. He was gazing at her with more and more satisfaction. “If it’s your first marriage, I’ll consider your marriage to my son, even if the person you offended is Jaden.”
‘Oh? What did that mean? A high level of appreciation for me?‘ Ella wondered in her heart.

Ella went to the point. “Thanks for your compliment, Mr. Guerra. Now that I’m divorced, I have to stay away from Chase, right?”
“You’re such a smart girl. What a pity.” Kevin felt a little regretful.
Ella did not mind. She was not familiar with Chase to begin with. “Don’t worry. I will.”
Kevin offered, “I heard you’re secretly asking about selling the company’s shares. I’m willing to take over at the market price.”
“Really?” Ella did not expect such a pleasant surprise.
Kevin explained, “Chase has changed a lot. I can feel he’s not just playing around. He’s serious. Consider this my gratitude.”
Ella smiled. “Thanks so much. If I wanted to sell the shares, I would contact you, Mr. Guerra.”
They chatted for a little longer before Kevin left for work.
Ella happily returned and told Jenny to sort out the needed documents.
‘I must deal with it quickly before my baby bump shows. Ella pondered, “If Jaden found out, I would probably not keep the child. Other than me, no one else can decide whether I should keep the child‘
Yolanda saw it when Jenny was organizing the documents.
She realized it was some documents about Ella’s person–owned shares, and her heart skipped a beat. After hesitating for a long while, she decided to call her brother.
Yolanda snapped. “Jaden, aren’t you going too far? I saw Jenny printing the shares‘ documents. It might be sold!”
Jaden was confused. “What did you say?”
An angry voice came from the other end of the phone. “Jaden, what are you thinking? Do you hate Ella so much that you want to force her to a dead end?”
“Jaden?” Jaden hung up the phone abruptly. Yolanda was furious and anxious, stomping her feet.
Yolanda could not understand what Jaden was thinking. Even if he and Ella could not be husband and wife, there was no need to be so heartless. He did not give Ella a way out.

Ella went to the hospital to visit Hazel and stayed from day to night.
Hazel’s spirit recovered well, but it was difficult for her health to recover.
Her head injury led to her damaged motor nerves, and she could not walk normally. She needed a wheelchair.
She couldn’t speak smoothly, either. Sometimes, Ella had to guess what Hazel meant.
However, as long as one was alive, there was hope.
Lisa discussed with Ella and intended to bring Hazel to Morakera and live there.
Ella opened her mouth and wanted to refuse, but she realized she could not say anything.
‘Hazel is Lisa’s mother. Lisa isn’t discussing it with me but informing me. Who am I to stop Lisa from doing so?‘ Ella thought.
“Good. That’ll be good. Hazel misses you a lot. She will be happy if you two live with the child.” Ella pretended to be relaxed. “I… I have to go to the office to deal with something. I’ve gotta go.”
Lisa asked with worry, “It’s getting late. Must you go to work now? Isn’t it too tiring?”
“I’m used to it,” Ella said hurriedly and turned to leave.
Ella was afraid her tears would fall if she didn’t leave immediately.
When the elevator door closed, she lowered her head, tears filling her eyes and dripping down.
Her grandpa was in the sanatorium and needed to recuperate. She didn’t dare to tell him anything.
The elder Ella could open up to was Hazel. But Hazel had to leave, too.
Ella left the hospital in a daze and returned home.

“Ms. Willow…” The servant looked at her and hesitated.
Ella was uneasy and did not see the servant’s troubled expression.
The servant was about to say something, but Ella chimed in. “I’m tired and want to rest. Let’s talk tomorrow.”
The servant tried again. “But…”
Ella ignored the servant and dragged her tired body upstairs to her bedroom. She collapsed on the bed without even turning on the lights.
Soon, she realized something was wrong, wondering, ‘Someone’s in the bed?”
A black shadow suddenly approached Ella, startling her.
She instinctively kicked him hard, but he casily dodged. She was pressed under him, and her hands and feet were restrained.
She opened her mouth to shout but was quickly gagged. A steady stream of alcohol smell wafted over.
Also, there was a familiar refreshing scent. It was the faint smell of mint.
Ella thought, ‘Is it… that person?
