Chapter 1527When the Sinclair group paid up for the design, the deal was fairly split with Thalassa.
Thalassa and Hertha were about to dive into a whirlwind of activity. Selling their design was just the
tip of the iceberg; they also had to work closely with the buyer’s company, helping them turn the
designs into actual pieces of jewelry.
On their way back, Hertha couldn’t help but ask Thalassa, “Thalassa, is there really no chance of
you and Lysander getting back together? I mean, when he was signing the contract today, he barely
glanced at you.”
Thalassa sighed, a touch of melancholy in her voice, “His fiancée now is Rosalind, and they’re thick
as thieves. Any more contact between us, and I’d just be stirring up trouble… I can’t be the wedge
driving them apart.”
Or else, it would be like giving someone the perfect excuse to take her out. She hadn’t even seen
her kids yet; she wasn’t ready to die. Being a thorn in Lysander’s side was a scary thought.
“Ah, I really feel for you, but there’s not much I can do,” Hertha sighed.
Before Lysander woke up from his slumber, Hertha had been daydreaming about a happy ending
between Thalassa and Lysander, especially after everything they’d been through together.

But the moment Lysander woke up and immediately kicked Thalassa out of Royal Estates,
announcing his relationship with Rosalind, Hertha was dumbfounded and furious with Lysander.
But what could she do, being a small voice in a vast world?
“It’s okay. We’ve got our business to focus on. These days, you can’t rely on men, only a career can
be your true anchor,” Thalassa said, comforting Hertha instead.Hertha managed a smile but said nothing more.
Today, Thalassa had come over to Hertha’s place, bringing ingredients for a classic barbecue to
celebrate Thalassa landing a job.
As they took the elevator up, they noticed new neighbors moving into the apartment across from
Hertha’s. The suite had been empty for a while, but now movers were busy bringing in furniture.
“Careful, just set it down over there,” directed the new owner from inside.
Hertha’s spine stiffened at the familiar voice. Peering through the open door, she caught sight of a
man with a charismatic aura and those unmistakable, fox-like eyes.
Her breath hitched, “Alaric!”

She couldn’t help exclaiming his name.
Alaric, hearing someone call him, turned around and was equally surprised to see Hertha and
Thalassa. He stepped out, “Hertha, Thalassa, you guys…”
Noticing the groceries in their hands, he quickly put two and two together, “Oh, Hertha, you live on
this floor? Having a barbecue tonight, can I crash?”
Hearing Alaric’s request to join made Hertha’s alarm bells ring, she blurted out, “Absolutely not!”
“Why not?” Alaric pressed.
Hertha’s mind raced, desperately searching for an excuse, “Because, because…”
Because she had two kids at home, and if Alaric saw them, what then?Hertha was scrambling for a reason, the more frantic she became, the harder it was to think of a
good excuse.
“Because her husband would be jealous!” Thalassa, thinking on her feet, jumped in to save the day.

Spencer would definitely not appreciate it. You know how it is.”
“Ah, right, right, it’s a family dinner. It wouldn’t be appropriate to bring you along,” Hertha nodded
vigorously, playing along with Thalassa’s quick thinking.
Thalassa truly had come up with a solid and convincing excuse on the spot.
